It was enthralling.
Despite the secrecy of their relationship being an extreme hindrance on Draco and Potter, he loved the thrill of sneaking around with the girl who lived. There was something about the danger that made things that much more satisfying, he thrived off it. So when Draco smuggled Potter into the Slytherin common room with her invisibility cloak, it was hard to hide the smirk off his face. He glimpsed to the space on his right, knowing his witch was hidden under the deceptive veil. The coast wasn't clear yet though, he still had to get her to his dormitory.
It was nearing seven in the evening on a friday night, he knew his friends would all be out tonight, stirring trouble elsewhere. The common room showed signs of the fifth, sixth and seven years absence with only a few of the younger students littered about the area. He took extra care to take the long way around the couches and fireplace, making sure Potter had plenty of room to maneuver around people. When he turned a stone pillar and set his eyes upon the stairs, he tried to demit the enthusiasm on his face.
Draco cleared his throat and looked back over his shoulder once more to assess the room, he was sure no one would be looking for him tonight. "Potter?" He lowly whispered, double checking she was following. Not a second later he felt something pinch his arm. He smiled, "just checking, love."
He continued down the stretch of corridors, chills creeping over his skin from the lake windows. It crossed his mind whether Potter had ever been into Slytherin territory, she didn't have an issue finding the stone entrance; but it was true that most students knew the entrances to other house rooms. He figured it must have contrasted greatly to her red Gryffindor quarters, probably nowhere near as dark and cold. He pictured a roaring fireplace with gold lions. The thought of how disgustingly comforting it must have been up in their almighty tower nearly coerced a snarl from him, but the sight of his bedroom door stripped it off.
Holding a hand up to cease the unseeable Potter, he cracked open the door to see the room empty. A second spell for good measure to check if the bathroom was occupied proved his dorm devoid of anyone. He grinned and turned to pull her in, but froze at the sight of Daphne Greengrass smiling nearby. The girl had such small feet, he didn't even hear her approaching.
"Greengrass," he greeted as he straightened, wiping the smile off his face.
"Draco," she nodded, "I'm surprised to see you here. I thought you would be joining the boys near the lake and terrorising innocent third years."
"Oh, is that where they are?" He feigned surprise and Greengrass frowned at his weirdly polite tone, "I'll be there soon, just need to change."
"...Right," she said, sizing him up with confusion before continuing down to the common room. He watched her leave, quickly undoing his emerald tie and looping it around the door knob, the universal code for do not disturb. Before letting anyone have the chance to interrupt him, he swung open his door, stepping aside for Potter to enter.
She pulled off her cloak once she was inside, her red hair messied by the action. "Terrorising innocent third years?" She questioned.
He clicked the door shut. "You know me, Potter, I'd never," he smirked and she rolled her eyes, glimpsing around his dorm.
He wondered briefly whether it differed much to hers. The room was large, a gaping green rug over the grey stone floor. Thick pillars circled the room with serpents wrapped around them, their red-jeweled eyes at the top. The ceiling moulding was black, adorned with more snakes and skulls and the pointed, tall windows were framed by sweeping emerald curtains. She seemed to point his bed out amongst them instantly, walking towards the one next to an over-embellished dresser. His surfaces were plentifully bestrewn with expensive objects, sparkling silver watches and more books than anyone else.
