It was a rare occasion to have the London sky perfectly clear, stars shining bright, and a warm breeze caressing Tori's skin. But standing in the middle of the car park in that moment, it felt right. It made sense that the weather was indescribably perfect because everything else around her had crumbled to the ground, leaving her numb and devastated. It was poetic, really. Harry's figure had disappeared behind a row of cars, but she was stuck, unmoving from her place in front of the tour bus that she had created so many fond memories in. So many memories, that would forever be tainted by the words yelled under the London stars.
She was dumb to think her secret would never see the light of day, considering she spent all day, every day with eight boys who talked about everything. There was no way her relationship with Calum was ever going to stay hidden, and she knew months ago that she should've told Harry, but her fears got the better of her every time. Fears that were now completely warranted because he left. Harry had left her.
"Fuck." Tori whimpered.
"Killer?" Tori had forgotten that she sent her sister outside earlier, wishing her away from the argument, and instead, forcing her to watch her older sister's relationship's downfall. Isabel's voice was small behind Tori, similar to how she sounded when one of their parents had just finished yelling at her. But she wasn't afraid because of being reprimanded, she was afraid that if she spoke any louder, her sister would break.
And she was right.
"Fu-uck." the coil snapped, making Tori's chest heave and all oxygen leave her lungs. As each ounce of energy left her body, it felt like she was watching him walk away from her over and over again. Reliving the most painful moment in her young life until it finally completely drained her, sending her to her knees on the hard concrete. "Fuck!"
"Shit." Isabel called out, racing towards Tori from her original place on a neighboring bus's steps. In an instant, she was crouched down next to her big sister, one arm around her lower back and the other gripping onto her hand tightly.
It was the last thing the mega star wanted her family to see, her completely falling apart. Tori was the older sister, she was supposed to show Izzy that everything in life was going to be okay, that she was strong and could deal with anything. But in this moment, Tori couldn't. She couldn't pull herself together long enough to tell her not to worry, to go back inside, and enjoy her night. And Tori couldn't pull herself long enough to take a breath.
"I don't - Tori, I don't know what to do. Tell me what to do." she begged, trying to pull the older girl's hand so that she'd look at her, but T was stuck. On her knees, hunched over like she was about to be sick, and vision 90% gone from all the tears in her eyes and rolling down her face.
As badly as she wanted to respond to her sister, everything in Tori's body had shut down and she was left a sobbing statue. Izzy kept begging her to tell her how to help, and the pain in her voice made Tori's stomach tighten even more. Finally, she turned her head back towards the 5SOS bus, screaming out the one thing everyone knew might be able to help the girl on the ground.
"NIALL! Niall, please!"
Tori didn't have to turn around to know that he was running out of the bus, followed by the other boys. They were all giants, so getting anywhere without making a sound was never something they were able to achieve. Within seconds, Niall was on his knees in front of his bandmate and desperately trying to get her to look at him. Liam and Louis' shoes could be seen on either side of the Irish saving grace, but Tori didn't have the brain capacity to pay any attention to them.
"Look a'me, damnit." Niall commanded, taking his best friend's face in his hands and pulling it up so he could look at her in the eyes. "You need to breathe."
