The trip to the El Paso outpost was rather fast. They met up with other agents stationed in the area. The team did whatever they could to give the man some time to take everything in. Any effort of consolation proved challenging. He currently has difficulty trusting anyone. No one could blame him. Raven decided to have a go at it. As much as he doesn't like Vas, he of all people know what it's like to be a marked target. He saw a glimpse of the level of destruction Vas is capable of and therefore decided to approach caution.
"Vas. Come with me." said Raven. "I've been where you were standing. I didn't know what was happening at the time."
"Really?" said Vas "What did they do to you?"
"They kidnapped my guardian." said Raven. "I came home from a trip after I graduated from college only to find out that he's disappeared and the bastards left the place a mess."
"And?" asked Vas. "What happened after that?"
"Turns out, he left some clues and hid a few things mostly to keep me safe." said Raven. "He was honoring a promise to my parents."
"So what happened to them?" Vas asked again.
"Dead. Since I was a year old." said Raven. "They were murdered. Al pretty much raised me since then. When he was gone, I had to rely on everything that man taught me."
"So how did you end up joining those guys?" Vas asked.
"I followed the clues Al left. Turns out he and my old man were with them." said Raven. "I found out about my powers and I found them not too long after. I hadn't even told you the best part."
"What's the best part then yuppie?" asked Vas.
"All of this happened just less than two months ago." said Raven.
"No shit!" said Vas.
"You were basically our mission here. We're supposed to bring you in." said Raven.
"And then what? You'll put me in a pipeline prison?" said Vas.
"Do you see that pale girl over there?" asked Raven while referring to Neve.
"You mean the creepy version of that blonde chick from Frozen?" Vas Replied.
"She had an asthma attack during a trip to Tuscany with her folks that caused a blizzard in the middle of July. They didn't nab her or anything. She lived in the agency grounds since." said Raven. "They also monitored me since I was little and again. I didn't learn about my powers until recently."
"You're basically the rookie then?" said Vas.
"I am. As far as I know, these guys have been around longer than me." said Raven. "I feel guilty enough being on the driver's seat in this whole mission."
"But they follow you. Not a fucking question asked." said Vas.
"That I hadn't figured out. Just two months ago, I figured I'd come home, make arrangements to get my own place, move out and start working an office job." said Raven. "Here I am now. And I'll be honest. This is all beyond anything I expected."
"You're handling it well." said Vas. "Two months in got you desensitized."
"Dude, not even. I'm just doing what I can to keep a straight face through all this." said Raven.
"You kept staring at my precious cargo earlier." said Vas.
"What do you mean?" asked Raven.
"The kush. I salvaged the whole bag and you kept staring at it." said Vas.
"You found that out huh?" Raven coyly replied.
"You had those stoner eyes like you hadn't had a joint in forever." said Vas. "Plus I need to get the edge off. Maybe I don't have to smoke this shit alone."
