Double dance

I sit up with a jolt.

"Damn nightmares."

Thursday was a public holiday so today is Friday. Meaning it's Halloween today!

Happy Halloween!!

I roll out of bed and get ready for school. Tonight I'm going to a kid in my grades party. His name is Taehyun or something. Apparently it's the biggest one yet so I'm excited. I grab my stuff and run out the door to the bus stop. I hop onto the bus again and start listening to my music. Then 'growl' by EXO comes on and I remember my dance with San.

Then I remember what Hongjoong told me. About how he's sorry for what San has done and will do. I shrug and wait for the bus to arrive at the school. When it does I jump off and run into my dance class. Today I have double dance, so my first two lessons before break is dance. I drop my bags in the change room and get dressed quickly.

"Morning." San said walking into the changing rooms

"Hey." I smile and walk out to begin my stretching and warmups. I see San walk out the change rooms in light blue baggy jeans and a black shirt. He also begins stretching as I finish up. I'm not in the mood to engage in conversation, but before I can put my earphones in he speaks.

"You sir change your hair a lot!" He laughs

"Yeah. This was what I was originally wanting, well I wanted it purple but then it just went pink so..." I shrug and put my earphones in. I turn my music louder and start moving my body to the beat. Not fully dancing, but still moving. As the song gets further in, I start moving more. San looks up at me confused but I just laugh and start dancing a bit more. Then 'Killing Me' by iKON came on. I learned the dance also when I was younger, so I just start dancing to that. I smile at the memory as I recall the moves. I remember how my friends struggled with the footwork. Then the beat drops in the song to the harder part of the dance. Obviously I nail it, but it's quite a flashy dance so it grabs Sans attention. He glances up at me dancing and I just throw him a smile as the choreo slows down again. Then he jumps up and is doing the choreo to the dance, although he can't hear the song. I quickly regain focus as I near the chorus again. Although San stumbles a little, we both manage to finish the dance. After a while, the song ends and we both sit down on the ground.

"Goddamn where do you even learn to dance like that?! I was struggling man!" San cried out

"Training does that you know. Practice practice. Repeat repeat. Repeat your mistakes. Don't make them again."

"Sounds rough." San winces. I laugh

"You get used to it. How many other dances do you know?"

"Um not many but I can't remember them all." He shrugs

"Nice. What's our project task?" I ask

"Just find a dance and re do it. So we can use one we both know already to make it easier?" San suggests

"Hhmm yeah. Okay let's just look for one we can use though. Just because." I say pulling my phone out and opening YouTube. I look over at San who's looking at my phone also "You can come closer I don't bite."

"Right. Sorry." He says and moves next to me.

"Okay so we both know the Fake love, Growl and Killing me choreo. What else could we try learn?" I ask looking over at him

"Now or never by SF9?" He suggests as I type it in

"I feel this is a great dance! But like it would look better danced in a group y'know?"

"Yeah yeah that makes sense." He says "Fear by Seventeen?"

"You're crazy! That dance is so hard!" I say looking up at him.

"We can do it though right? It looks fun! And we would get good marks cause it'll look good!" San begged

"We can try. If all else fails we can do Growl." I sigh and click the dance video. "Okay I think we can manage. But there's a lot of practice we'll need."

"Yeah. Do you wanna start learning?" He says standing up looking down to me.

"Um I'm just gonna watch the video and memorize the choreo, then I'll try it." I say

"Can I join you?" He asks sitting next to me, but a bit closer this time

"Sure." I say and hold my phone so that we can both watch it. A few more people start coming in, but pay no mind to us. After watching the video a few more times, the teacher comes in

"Hello hello everyone! Happy Halloween! We are going to start learning our dances for the practical today! We are going to spread out across the room and you can start in your own time. Today is a double lesson so you should be able to cover a lot."

San and I stand up and walk over to the far corner. I hand him an AirPod and we start trying out the dance. In no time we have the first section down, but we are out of sync

"We have to go with the beat of the song. Cause so far we are out of sync and it looks sloppy. So for now I can count and on every number we move. But we can take it slow without music, then speed up with the music. Okay?" I say taking position again

"Alright." San replies taking a spot next to me

"Okay and one two three four five six seven eight. See that's a lot better!" I say smiling at San "now let's try faster. Okay one two three four five six seven eight!"

"You're a really good teacher actually." San says smiling "let's try with the music now." He says and i unpause the song. As it starts we both get the movements right, and in perfect sync

"You guys are doing well at the back there!" The teacher yells at us from the front. I laugh and give him a thumbs up. We continue on that part until we master it and then we take a break

"This is actually fun." San says sitting down next to me

"Yeah." I say and take a sip of my water. Then the bell rings showing the first half is over

"Right everyone I want you all to show the class what you've learned so far and what you're performing. I am marking this part for the 'Preparation in class' mark out of 5! Do you're best!" The teacher exclaims and starts calling people up.

"Next up: Wooyoung and San! What are you guys performing?" The teacher asks

"Um we are doing 'Fear by Seventeen' and we are doing the original choreography not our own." San says

"Ooh that's a tricky one but I'm sure you can do it." The teacher says and starts the music. We both start the intro to the song and we move in perfect sync; like we were built and programmed for this specific dance. Then we stop because we only know a little bit of the dance so far.

"Wow! That's really good so far! I must say that I personally find the intro the hardest part because you have to be in perfect sync, but you two nailed it! Well done you guys keep it up!" The teacher says as we walk back over to our spot at the back. San looks over at me and gives me a high five

"We did it!" He says laughing

"Yeah! But that's only the intro we still have more to learn you know." I sigh.

"Yeah let's keep going." He says and we continue the choreo

"Ugh I can't get this part!" San screams in frustration

"It's okay! Look here: you go like this-this-this and then that. Got it?" I say showing him the moves and he nods. He tries it again and messes up again

"Damn it!" He screams

"Ok. Calm down." I start off walking over to him "You're getting it wrong because you're not standing properly." I stand next to him and turn him sideways, so he's facing the mirrors. "Do it again but slower." As he starts to do the dance I place a hand on his back and one on his chest and pull him to stand in a better position "Do it again, and stay in that position." I say and he does the dance again, this time with no mistakes.

"Thanks." He says shyly

"Sure. From the top."
