1 week later
"School is terrible." I groan, slamming my head onto the keys of my laptop.
"Can't you just zap us out of here? To some place extraordinary. Like Ireland? Or Italy?" Beth asks from the seat next to me, her tired eyes lighting up from exitement.
"Beth. It's simple magic. Nothing like that. At least, not yet." I jokingly elbow her, raising my eyebrows.
"Ugh, fine. But we really need to get working on these papers."
"Yeah. If I fail english my parents are going to have my head." Celia says frantically, her eyes not straying from her own laptop screen.
"I might not be able to take us anywhere, but I can get us out of here." I whisper to myself, pulling my folder from my bag. When I look back up, I have 3 sets of eyes on me.
"What do you mean?" Ronnie whispers back, confusion on her face.
"I can't take us somewhere extraordinary, like Beth suggested, but I can get us, and everybody else, out of this hell they call high school."
"Then why are we still sitting here? Do it!" Ronnie persists, bouncing in her seat.
"Guys! I need to finish this paper." Celia reminds us, but we just ignore her.
"Be right back." I say raising my hand, trying to catch the attention of the librarian. She strolls over to the table that the 4 of us are occupying. "May I please go to the bathroom?"
"Fine. But be back quick."
"Meet me at Dean" I tell the girls, meaning at my car. I stand from the table and walk out of the library.
Once out of the library, I make my way out to the main hallway. Lined on the ceiling were small sprinklers, placed about a foot away from each other. Meant for fires, crucial for safety. Or to get kids out of school. Just as the idea floods my brain, I'm interupted by someone clearing their throat behind me. I turn my figure around completley to face the stranger. There's a boy. He looks like a junior, which means he's in my class. Strange that I had never seen him before.
He was dressed all in black, except for his hair. Black jeans and black converse were accompanied by a Blink-182 t-shirt and red hair. Hair that almost exactly matched mine. He wasn't ugly, in fact quite attractive. About a foot taller than me, making him look almost 6ft. And I just couldn't shake the fact that we were stood in front of each other, wearing very similar outfits with very similar hair colors.
Suddenly, I shake my head pulling me out of my trance.
"Yes?" I cautiously ask, noticing I had been staring.
"What are you doing?" He asks back, his green eyes staring back into my ice blue ones.
"What are you doing?" I retaliate, his question catching me off guard.
"I asked you first."
"Well, I asked you second."
He laughs, looking down at his shoes.
"You really need to work on your arguments. I'm trying to cut class, but if I keep standing here talking to you, I'll get caught."
"Why wander the halls when you can just leave?"
"No car."
"You can't drive?"
"I can, but I got my car taken away."
"Need some help getting out of here?"
"Woah. I don't know you and you don't know me."
"Who said I had to?" I ask, turning my attention back to the sprinklers. I close my eyes and stretch my fingers towards the ceiling.
