"Good morning, Levi"

The words replay in Levi's head which still rests on his pillow, a few pieces of loose hair sitting in front of his eyes. He's barely awake, strangely aware of the fact he is dreaming yet too tired to actually do anything about it. Not like he would, anyway. He should go back to sleep. He's okay for now, before the realization kicks in and he notices something is off.

Thirty minutes pass and he hears the voice again, except it's quieter. The light whisper soothes Levi's faint dreams which are slowly slipping away, taking something more with them.

"Good morning, Levi"

It's far away. Distant. Barely within reach among his semi-conscious state. If he wakes up it'll be gone, leaving nothing other than a pit in his chest. As much as he'd love to sleep, a certain sleep disorder has other plans. It pulls him from the luxury of being unconscious and unaware of the empty life he lives, being once again greeted by the blank wall in front of him. Levi closes his eyes and groggily rolls over when he realizes how cold it is. Where was the warmth from a few minutes ago? The voice he heard, was someone with him? Of course someone was there. Wasn't that how it was always supposed to be?

The movement gets Levi's heart going which works to wake him up further. Somethings missing. What is it??

He pats the bed, an arm outstretched to the other side. It's funny how one, simple action could have your heart sinking. More frantic patting around the bed and Levi finally opens his eyes.

He regrets it.

There's nothing.

No one.

Just an absence of something, perhaps a warmth he's grown used to having next to him in bed every morning.

A figure, specifically a human. A person.

Erwin.

...

Oh.

...

That's right.

...

He's-

Levi scoots closer to the left side of the bed, stuffing his face in the pillow that still holds the Commanders light scent. It's been a while, but you know what they say.
