I didn't go back to sleep that night. I watched the sun rise over the small town through the window, almost in a daze with my knees hugged to my chest. It was almost noon when my mind was pulled out of its zone from the rumble of my stomach. I needed more food, but I really didn't want to shove more dry granola down my esophagus, I probably wouldn't be able to. I've always hated it. Picking up my stiff body I got off the bed I grabbed my backpack and actually went outside. Somehow managing to find the same store I had went to a few days previously I went inside. I wasn't looking for a light snack like I had gotten a few days ago, but I was actually getting food. Still on a budget though I picked up what I needed. I also, quite reluctantly might I add, picked up a little more granola for emergency purposes only. It's light and easy to carry, even though it really is gross. Picking up a few plain shirts and deodorant, I started walking to the front of the store.
"Hey new girl!" Confused I turned to see the same girl who had skateboarded into me just yesterday come bounding up, skateboard in hand.
"It's Alex. And you're Jessie, right?"
She nodded.
"Yeah. New girl is your nickname. Everyone around town has been buzzing about you." She falls into step next to me. I think over what she said, I don't want to be talked about. It's best if I stay away from the spotlight. Maybe I should've chosen a town where people don't know everyone around.
"Whatcha doing here anyway?" I raise an eyebrow at the black haired girl.
"I'm getting stuff, obviously." Her eyes glinted in amusement.
"Obviously." We reached to front of the store and I turned in the direction of the register. Jessie looked at her phone which had just buzzed.
"I gotta go. But I hope to see you at school new girl." I roll my eyes at the stupid nickname, how long is that going to last? Putting my stuff down on the counter, I thought of our conversation. Who actually goes out of their way to talk to the new girl?
"So I'll just bag these up with a little piece of me, pretty lady." I looked up to see who had spoken. Across the counter was a smirking guy, about late teens, probably a few years older than me. I looked him up and down, it probably seemed like I was checking him out but I had little to no interest in this guy.
"I think I'll just take what I paid for." His coworker that was working the next register snorted, trying to contain a laugh. The guys smirk slipped right off his face at my comment. He got all quiet and handed me my bags, it seems like someone's ego had just been shot down. Shoving the shopping bags into my backpack, I started my way through town again. Stopping for an unnecessary rest at a park bench, I got out a few of my snacks I had bought. As I sat on the bench I watched people come and go. Joggers running their laps on the sidewalk, couples enjoying themselves a nice stroll, children screaming while running around the jungle gym, pets and owners bonding over games of fetch. I smiled sadly as a little girl and her father walked past me, both licking ice cream and enjoying the others presence, knowing that can never happen with me and my father again. Everyone seemed happy, everyone seemed carefree, like they had not a care in the world. Truthfully I envied their happiness, where they all felt joy on this beautiful Sunday afternoon I barely even felt a sliver of being content.

Ok it's just a filler chapter, so sorry that it's short. I didn't really know how to do this chapter. I'm still sick and soccer has started up again along with school. The only reason I actually updated this was because I'm pretty sure my best friend would've killed me if I didn't. And I'm bored. Like always I want to know what you think. So.. Yeah.
Till next time my lovelies
