there come's a point in every relationship where the people involved want to take it to a new level, a more serious level. y/n and hamzah had been together for a while now, and together they had decided that it was time to introduce each other to their parents. well, y/n's parents. hamzah's parents had caught hamzah and y/n kissing, and they were actually really kind and accepting.

this took stress off of the couple's shoulders, and they genuinely believed that everyone would be accepting. why wouldn't anyone be, they were perfect for each other.

so, as the doorbell rang throughout the house, y/n basically jumped for joy. it was time to finally announce their relationship, which meant it was finally time to be free as a couple.

"i'll get it!" y/n's shout echoed throughout her house, running her way to the front door. she swing it open, grinning at hamzah who had two bouquets in his hand. y/n wraps her arms around him, pecking his lips quickly. "i'm so happy you're here."

"i'm happy i'm here," he smiles down at her as he passes her one of the bouquet's. "i got this for you, and one for your mom. i hope she likes flowers."

"you're too sweet, babe, she's gonna absolutely love you."

hamzah took a deep breath. "i sure hope so."

the couple traversed towards the dining table, where y/n and her parents had previously prepared dinner for a 'friend' that would be coming over. only thing was, he was far from a friend.

at the sound of giggling, y/n's parents look up from their plates, eyebrows furrowing at the sight of hamzah. normally, y/n only brought home female friends, so they were mildly surprised. but, they offered a smile nevertheless.

the four look at each other for a moment, the parents waiting for the two to get situated into their seats. hamzah shuffles over time give y/n's mom her flowers before he got to sit in the spot beside them.

"hello- well uh, good evening you two," hamzah cursed himself for stuttering, his heart accelerating. he didn't know why, he just didn't feel entirely... welcomed. "i, i can see where y/n got all her good looks from... ha..."

y/n let out a chuckle, mostly from how awkward this was, and just started to eat her dinner. she didn't know how much more she could take of this.

"thank you, i forgot your name."

y/n looks up to meet her mother's eyes, slightly surprised by her attitude. "his name is hamzah, mom."

the table falls silent again, hamzah and y/n squeezing each other's hands under the table. this wasn't entirely going as expected. clearly.

after a few more bites, y/n cleared her throat as she took her and hamzah's intertwined hands from under the table. "well guys, we've got something to tell you..."

hamzah smiles at y/n, then looks to the parents to gauge their reaction. "we're dating."

y/n's dad starts to choke on his food and y/n'a mom goes to comfort him all while glaring at y/n. with a small sigh, y/n looks over at hamzah with a sympathetic smile. "sorry for this."
