39|LAST PARTY

Lillian sat sadly beside her husband, enjoying the expensive meat and listening to the loud chatter which filled the large hall.

"This may be a special night, but let's not let the public find out!" One of the higher up officers announced to all the soldiers. "Behave like soldiers without causing a ruckus. Tonight's the night before we retake Wall Maria! Cheers!"

"Cheers!" The entire hall cheered loudly, all excited by the sight of meat. Then the chaos began, every one screaming to get a piece of meat.

Lillian peacefully ate her salad, the smell of meat making her nauseous. She sipped on her tea while giggling to herself, watching as Levi's squad tied Sasha to a poll to stop her from going crazy.

"You're so full of yourself, you pig shit!" Jean screamed above everyone else, their attention going to him and Eren who were on the verge of fighting.

"You trying to grow out the hair on your mane, horse face?" Eren retaliated, just as loud.

"Should we stop them?" Lilly casually asked, watching the boys argue, fists being thrown.

"They need the release." Hanje waved her off but Levi suddenly stood to his feet.

"Hey." Levi stated to them both before kicking Eren in the stomach and sending a harsh punch into Jeans gut, both boys toppling over in pain. "You're all too damn rowdy. Go to sleep."

"I love my husband." Lillian hummed happily, standing up to make sure he did not kill the two.

"And clean that up." He commanded to the entire hall as the two boys threw up their dinner.

"Yes, sir."

"Come on." Levi grabbed his wife's hand and pulling her gently along with him, her grabbing a bottle of wine on their way.

He sat against the wall, Lillian between his legs comfortably, head on his chest as they drank quietly. Levi with with the wine and Lilly with a mug of water. Their peaceful moment was disturbed by three voices, the golden trio of the 104th Cadets. They listened to the three teenagers talk, their moods dampening from the depressive talk.

"At least they remain hopeful." Lilly sighed, turning to look at her husband from over her shoulder. "You can go a long way with hope and dreams."

"I forgot you can be optimistic sometimes." He chuckled sadly, wrapping his hand around her so he could rest it on her stomach. "This is my hopes and dreams right here."

"I am eight months pregnant and we still haven't thought of a name yet." She laughed quietly, listening to the small group leave. "I want to incorporate Farlan and Isabel into the name."

"We can use their names in the middle?" He suggested, helping his wife to her feet so they could retire for the night.

"I was thinking after this child we could try and have another." Lillian looked down hesitantly, knowing the subject of their future was touchy.

"We can practice tonight." His lips were on hers as they sealed the promise in a dark crook of an empty street.

The next day was an emotional rollercoaster for Lillian. She was alone in bed when she woke up, white sheets twisted around her naked body. The spot beside her was cold meaning he had been awake for a while.

"Levi?" She called out, blanket over her shoulders to conserve the heat as she stepped into his cold office.

"What are you doing awake so early?" He hummed, pushing his desk chair back so she could cuddle up on his lap.

"I can't sleep alone." Lilly admitted, resting her head on his shoulder as he played with the ends of her hair. "I need my big strong soldier to protect me from nightmares."

"Big?"

"Sorry, I meant huge." She laughed, knowing that was not what he meant. She grabbed the tea off his desk and took a sip, sighing contently as the warm liquid went down her throat.

"What are your plans today? We are leaving at sunset." Levi finally asked her after stealing his tea back.

"I will see you all off and Historia is sending me a carriage, I'll be staying with her while you're away." She informed him. "She didn't want me to be alone and pregnant."

"That's good." Eventually the pair got dressed and ready for the day, both heavy hearted as they thought about the expedition later that day.

Lillian stood with the crowd, watching as the soldiers all stood on the wall, waiting for Erwin to announce the mission to start. Her fingers delicately touching her lips as she remembered the final kiss she shared with her husband. Suddenly someone called up to them all, cheering them all on which led to the entire crowd yelling words of encouragement to the troops. She placed a hand over her mouth as tears built up in her eyes. No one had ever sent off the Scouts like this.

Erwin yelled loudly, fist in the air which made the crowd louder as they all cheered the soldiers.

"Doctor Ackermann?" A military police said her name from behind her, catching her attention.

"You must be the guard Historia sent for me." She smiled at him and followed him to a carriage, happily sitting in the back on the plush seats. Only now, alone and hidden did Lillian finally let the tears fall. She cried for her husband, her brother, her best friend, her God Son and every other person she held close to her heart.
