"Skylar. Wake up." A voice called, shaking my shoulder.

I opened my eyes and crawled away from the voice. Everything was still dark, I couldn't see who was there. "Get away from me." My voice shook as I crawled backwards to the wall, pressing my back against it.

A hand extended towards me before they crawled forward and their face was illuminated by the dim light.

"It's just me." Logan whispered.

I relaxed against the wall at the sight of him until I realized he's the reason I'm here. I shook my head and pushed him away from me. "Go away." I told him, closing my eyes and controlling my breathing.

He sighed. "I'm not going to hurt you." He said softly, shuffling towards me.

I scoffed, "yeah, tell that to the gun you had pointed at my head." I opened my eyes and looked at him through the dark.

His face morphed into guilt. "I'm sorry, they made me." He whispered, moving closer to me. He was sitting in front of me, one hand on each side of my legs.

"Bullshit. They didn't make you do anything." I pushed him away again, using both of my hands but it was no use, he's like a statue.

"Please just listen to me." He pleaded, his eyes soft as he looked at me.

I hesitated for a moment before sighing, "You've got one minute." I said, crossing my arms against my chest.

He nodded. "That's all I need." He moved to sit beside me.

"So, when you sent me to the car, a guy I've known for years, Carlos, came out from behind a car." He started, glancing over at me to make sure I was listening. I nodded, waiting for him to continue. "He told me they were coming for us both and they were going to kill us for escaping and my betrayal. I told him I'd kill them first, but he told me they had an army coming and we would surely die." He turned towards me, grabbing both of my hands. "He said if I didn't help them, he was to kill me and take you here. At least this way, I can watch out for you." He finished, rubbing his thumbs over my hands like he's done so many times before.

I didn't realize how much I missed his touch until this moment, no matter what he's done to me.

I sighed and leaned towards him. "What do they want?" I asked softly, looking up into his eyes.

His blue eyes staring back with guilt and love. "I don't know. They know I'm a risk and it's a need to know basis." He reached out and touched my cheek softly. I leaned towards his hand, welcoming the warmth it brought me.

The room was freezing and I was wearing a tank top and shorts.

He frowned and grabbed my face with both of his hands. "I'm going to protect you, Sky. If it's the last thing I do." He promised, his eyes set on mine, a sincerity mixed with the blue in his.
