Christmas Eve

Justin's POV

I decided that our puppy's name should be Luna. Luna means 'moon' in Spanish. Unlike any other puppy, Luna is not the hyper type of dog to jump up on to your bed and lick your face until you got out of bed, or anything in that nature really. When the alarm clock sounded at 7AM, Luna growled from her doggy bed on the floor next to my bed. That's when I knew she was a night dog and the best name for her would be Luna.

I knew some Spanish, but got stuck on some words. My mom was full Mexican and my dad's parents were British. Before my mom had died, she had taught my dad so much Spanish that he became fluent. Alex was fluent in Spanish, him being full Mexican and all. Alex will love the name.

I got dressed, showered, shaved, and put on Luna's leash to take her for a walk in the city while I do some late shopping since I've been so busy working and driving back and forth to the hospital. Since the club is mostly busy at night, I work afternoons at a guitar store where I give classes to people from the age of 14 to 18. Me being 21, I felt confident teaching them.
I connect Luna's leash to her collar and we head out. After walking a couple of blocks, I go into a small pet shop to get Luna's tag on her collar. It's pink with diamonds surrounding her name "LUNA" in cursive. Our next stop was the Apple Store. Luna's a well-behaved dog, so I bring her into the store and the workers have no problem since she's so small.

Usually when I go into a store, I worry about spending too much. But today was different. Thankfully, my new job teaching teenagers how to play the guitar really gives me a ton of spare cash, teaching 3 classes a day for 5 days a week with 12 people in each class.
For my dad, I pick out an IPad mini. In rehab, there's nothing much for him to do during his free time when he's not in therapy. He's still going to be stuck in there for the next few months until they start seeing some improvement. On the other hand, I buy Alex a new Mac Book since his old one is terribly slow.

Next, I go to Yankee Candle for Jocelyn. Pomegranate Cider, Lake Sunset, White Christmas, North Pole, Mistletoe, Cranberry Peppermint, and Snowflake Cookie. I check the time and it's already 8:35, so Luna and I head back to the "Queer Motherfucking Crib", stopping by Starbys on the way back.

Once I open the door to the apartment, I see the TV is on, Forensic Files on the screen. I'm scared as fuck because I haven't turned on the TV since yesterday. Then, I see Gisselle on the couch with a bowl of popcorn on the coffee table.
"What the even fuck Gisselle, how'd you get in here?" I say.
"You gave me an extra key, remember?" she smirks.
"Why are you here anyways? I thought there was some murder in my house." I shake my head.
"Well, I wanted to drive us to the hospital to go see Jocelyn and Alex." she says, "Whose dog is that by the way?"
"It's mine. But let's head out, I was going to go over there anyways."
Gisselle helps me wrap the presents and put them under our gay tree. Luna lays by the fire place as we walk out the door.
The weather is colder than ice outside. It's -1 degrees, but yet all I'm wearing is a sweater, a hoodie, a beanie, and jeans. Gisselle is wearing a black buttoned-up jacket with a white beanie and leggings with Uggs. Her car is the latest Mustang: her dad loves spoiling her.

About five minutes later, we're at the hospital. The clerk already knows who I am and who I am here to see, so I don't need a pass. Gisselle, on the other hand, gets a pass. She lies and says that she is Jocelyn's niece since it's family only.

I lead the way to the room, but the bed is empty. Someone taps my shoulder.
"If you're looking for Jocelyn Hernandez, she was moved to room C-364." the nurse says.

I wonder why she was moved to another room. Maybe the machines in this room didn't function well anymore; that always happens.

Gisselle and I thank the nurse and head for the elevator to floor 3. When we get to the room, the door is closed.
"Dammit, I forgot to get him flowers since it's Christmas Eve." I say.
"Ugh, now we have to do more walking." Gisselle growls.
