4:00 PM

Still December 18th

Justin's POV

I get to the hospital and run to the sliding doors. Where am I supposed to go? How do I ask? What happened?

Questions run through my head as the receptionist at the front desk of the hospital sees me come through the doors.

"Did a guy named Alex Lightwood check in to see someone?" I ask since I didn't know who was in the hospital.

"Yes, he's checked in up at waiting room B on Floor 4."

I run to an elevator close by and press the button multiple times.

The elevator opens and I hop in. Luckily, no one's in there so I can shake and sweat alone.

Tears threaten to come out of my eyes but I hold them back. Maybe nothing that bad happened, I just have to think positive.

Finally, in the time that feels like an eternity, I get to the floor and look around until I find waiting room B.

On the door, there was a sign that said 'Emergency Family Waiting'.

I run in expecting for there to be a big open room and find Alex sitting in a chair.

Instead, there is an old man at a desk behind a window and a door to the waiting room. I head for the door, but the man's thick voice stops me.

"Sir, you have to check in."

I go to the window.

"Who is it you're visiting?"

"I- I don't know. My boyfriend-" the man cut me off.

"Boyfriend?" he asked astonished.

"Yes I'm gay, that's not what I'm here for!" I say, annoyed.

The door to the waiting room opens and Alex stands there. His eyes are puffy and red, which either means he's high, been crying, or both.

"He's with me." Alex pulls me into the room with the rest of the eagerly waiting visitors.

His grasp is tight and hands are sweaty as he pulls me into those private shut conference rooms. He shuts the door behind him.

"Justin, the worst thing's happening, I don't want to live."

Tears start rolling down his face and he wipes them off with a tissue he's been holding in his hand.

"What's wrong?" I manage to ask.

"My Aunt Marie is flying in from Miami. Even my dad is flying in. My dad!! I haven't seen him in 12 years! Since I was 7! "

"But what happened??" I ask, confused as ever.

"Well I got a call in the middle of class.."

Flashback...

Alex's POV

"And this new color we're learning how to mix may be the easiest-" Mr. K explains our new hair project for the next day when my phone rings.

"Sorry, I have to take this." I answer the phone without looking at the color ID.

"You're mother is in the hospital. We have called your father and aunt. You shall come to the hospital and ask where you shall wait for a doctor at the front desk."

A hospital receptionist says in the phone.

"What happened with my mother?" I ask eager to know what has happened.

"We cannot tell you-"

I hang up in anger and run out to the bus stop.

End of flashback...

"God dammit." I say, calming Alex down.

Someone knocks on the door of the room.

"Alex?" the person says.

The knob twists.
