Chapter 5

"so...."

"my mother left me when I was a child leaving me and my dad. Over the years my dad has been changing. He used to be a thoughtful and nice person and would always look after me. Ever since I graduated from primary school his been making some not so nice decisions. It started off with drinking..." 

I started tear up. Josh comforts me.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to" he says slowly 

"No it's okay, so like i said it started with him drinking a few bottles once every week, but then it got worse, it's started to become a problem, then by 7th grade he would scream at me for no reason or because he was drunk. Then now he started to be abusive. I don't know why he started. I just really don't know why" I say full on crying. 

He gives me a hug while resting his chin on my head

"hey it's okay, it's okay. If you want maybe you can stay at my house for the night" he offers

"I would but dad..."

"you can"

"dad has all my clothes"

"You can wear mine"

"Thank you, what about school, they'll be so big and baggy"

"Do you want to go shopping?" he asks

"sure"

"but it'll have to be tomorrow"

"Oh okay" I say with a small smile

"but there's one slight complication"

"yes.."

"rooms... and if your parents will allow it"

"well we can sort out rooms later but if you want we can ask my parents now"

"Okay sure"

we go down the stairs

"Hey mum, dad"

they all look in his direction

"Whos this" Josh's dad said

"A friend"

"Hi I'm Y/N" I speak up

"Oh how lovely to meet you" Josh's mum said

She gets up and hugs me

So this is what having a family feels like

"Do you mind if Y/N stays with us a couple of weeks at a time" he asks

Josh's dad narrows his eyes at me

"It'll be completely okay if you don't want me to"

"Why should she be staying" His dad said sternly

"Just some troubles"

"What sort of troubles" Josh's mum said

"better not say it" Josh says

"Y/n would you like to tell me in a more private area"

"yes" I say while looking at my feet

It was hard enough to tell josh the first time but a second time it's gonna be hard

She led me to a quiet room

"Okay whenever your ready"

I tell her everything, exactly what i said to josh

I look up from the ground and i see her in tears

I gave her a hug

"Hun no one needs to go through that, you can stay whenever you want"

"Thank you mrs Richards"

"No problem sweetie"

We walk downstairs and she goes over to Mr Richards while I go over to Josh. he then gives me a hug.

"Thank you" I whisper with my head buried in his chest

"No problem" He whispers back

We then break from the hug

"Okay so you are more than happy to stay over as long as you need, where also here if you need to talk about anything"

"Thank you" I said 

Josh then led me up to his room. We talk for a bit and played some video games. I then hear his mother scream.

"DINNERS READY!" she screams

"COMING" Josh and I said in unison 

SKIP DINNER BECAUSE I'M LAZY

Josh and I went to his room. 

"I'm fine sleeping on the floor" I say to Josh

"Are you crazy, I'm not letting you sleep on the floor, you're sleeping on the bed with me"

I laugh a little.

I then realise another complication.... CLOTHES

Just as if Josh was reading my mind, he tosses me a pair of sweatpants and a shirt. I go in his bathroom and change. When I got out I see him in bed with the TV on smirking.

"What?" I say slightly embarrassed

"Oh nothing" He says as he looked away

I put my clothes from school on the floor and then got in bed. I turn around to sleep but I couldn't. First I wasn't comfortable and then I was freezing.  I guess Josh saw my struggles because he then said...
