(Louis’ P.O.V.)

I knocked on Rachel’s door, waiting while bouncing on the heels of my feet. “Who is it?” she shouted.

“It’s Louis,” I answered. The door opened and she pulled me inside quickly, shutting the door behind me, and hurried around her room. I raised my eyebrows at her and took a seat on the end of the bed, bouncing lightly. “Whatcha doin?”

“I need to put on something nicer,” she said, pulling clothes off the floor, looking at them, and throwing them back on the floor. I leaned back.

“I think you look fine,” I said. Better than fine, actually. She snorted.

“Thanks, Lou. We’re meeting The Wanted tonight,” she said. I examined her outfit.

“Oh.”

“Yeah.”

“Have you listened to my CD yet?” I asked. She shook her hair, pushing her hair out of her face.

“No, not yet. Will you put it in the stereo for me?” she asked, gesturing to my CD sitting on her desk. I picked it up and slid it in the CD player, hoping she’d like it. I turned up the volume and the first song started to play and she stopped hurrying around and swayed slightly on the spot, staring at me.

I close both locks below the window

I close both blinds and turn away

Sometimes solutions aren't so simple

Sometimes good bye's the only way

She smiled at me, a glint in her eyes. She sat down on the edge of the bed and listened. “This is a great song,” she whispered. I nodded silently and joined her on the end of the bed.

And the sun will set for you

The sun will set for you

And the shadow of the day

Will embrace the world in gray

And the sun will set for you

“You know, I think it’s amazing, music,” Rachel whispered. I looked at her in expectance.

“What do you mean?” I asked. She shrugged.

“It’s just that…no matter where you go, no matter who you are and what you’ve done…everyone listens to music. Everyone. It’s universal. It’s so…strong,” she said.

In cards and flowers on your window

Your friends all plead for you to stay

Sometimes beginnings aren't so simple

Sometimes good bye's the only way

I glanced at Rachel. She was holding a shirt loosely in her hand, not caring about the night anymore. She just listened, in all her glory. She looked so at peace – so serene, I didn’t want to ruin it. She had the smallest smile resting on her lips, so fragile I was afraid I might break it, but it looked so real.

So genuine.

And the sun will set for you

The sun will set for you

And the shadow of the day

Will embrace the world in grey

And the sun will set for you

And the shadow of the day

Will embrace the world in grey

And the sun will set for you
