(Rachel's P.O.V.)

I looked around at the other four girls. Kara had her bright red hair in a fishtail braid down the side and she was wearing black and white striped shorts and a black crop top. She had on short boots with heels.

Cher was wearing puffy, high waisted pants and a white shirt with black writing on it. She had on a leather jacket over the shirt and her long black hair was swept to her right shoulder.

Tessa had on a peach bralet and a white skirt on the bottom. She was wearing a pair of combat boots with heels and studs. Her blonde hair was pushed back with a headband.

I was wearing high waisted denim shorts with studs on one leg and none on the other. I had on a tank top with kind of Aztec designs and black tights on underneath. My shoes were also black combat boots, but without the heel. I told my stylist if she gave me heels, I would definitely trip and fall.

I was practically shaking from the nerves and my heart was beating so fast, I was sure it would burst. Katie had just finished her performance. Someone tapped my shoulder and I turned around to see Kevin with a shy smile.

“Hey, I just wanted to say you shouldn’t be nervous, you’re going to do great. You guys are amazing,” he said quickly. I smiled at him and hugged him.

“Thanks Kevin. You did really well,” I said. I let go as Dermot started talking and pushed him away. “Go watch!”

The music started and the doors opened up. I gripped my microphone tight and brought it to my lips as Tessa and I sang the first part together.

“She’s just a girl and she’s on fire

Hotter than a fantasy

Longer than a highway”

Cher and Kara sang the next part.

“She’s living in a world and it’s on fire

Feeling the catastrophe

But she knows she can fly away”

Then the four of us sang together, the beat still slow. With my new best friends singing at my side, it wasn’t so scary. In fact, it almost seemed as if the whole crowd was gone. There were no judges, no cameras, no people. Just me and my three best friends.

“Oh-oh-oh-oh

She’s got both feet on the ground

And she’s burning it down

Oh-oh-oh-oh

She’s got her head in the clouds

And she’s not backing down

This girl is on fire

This girl is on fire

She’s walking on fire

This girl is on fire”

I put my hand down and started to do my dance moves while Tessa sang her solo.

“Looks like a girl but she’s a flame

So bright she can burn your eyes

Better look the other way”

I stopped dancing and held the microphone to my lips once again. There was no knot in my stomach, even though this was my first solo. I was running on pure ecstasy.

“You can try but you’ll never forget her name

She’s on top of the world

Hottest of the hottest girls say”
