Genesis 2:24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
What I liked about Genesis 2 is that the Lord rested on that day. On the seventh day, after He did all the work, He rested. The same goes for us, there should be a sacred time of rest to devote to our Maker and Father. To give thanks to all He has done during the entire week — how He had extended His mercies for us during all those days. Giving our praise and honor to the One who made all things possible.
Genesis 2 also showed us that the Lord knows our very need. He knows Adam need a suitable helper, hence, He created a woman. The woman is part of Adam's bone of bones and flesh of flesh. Maybe sometimes that's how the Lord gives us something we need, He takes something inside us and use it to create the very thing that would help us in our journey. He takes our brokenness and creates wholeness out of it. We are broken but we are made whole in Christ. God is the greatest poet, look at all the metaphors scattered all over the Scripture.
Without Christ, our brokenness will remain as it is because He is the only One who can make something out of nothing. He is our Creator, our Maker, our Sovereign Father.
REFLECTION: Married or single, for the believer, Christ is our Bridegroom. How could you implement these standards in your relationship with Christ?
Everything that God creates, everything that God does is always good. This also goes along with the standards that He gives us to obey. Being single is an opportunity to serve God in many ways since my current obligation permits me to be of instrument in expanding the kingdom.
The Scripture says Marriage should be a priority, should be permanent, should have oneness and openness. If Christ is our Bridegroom, we ought to have the same standard of relationship as we are married in Christ. Keeping myself pure in thoughts, actions, and words is what the Lord desires for me. And I know in the past, that may not have been the case for me since I give in to temptation. But I hope that as I recommit myself to the Lord, I would always choose to go to the path which He wanted me to go. He already has given light to my dark world. I don't need to go back in the dark room of shame and guilt because of God's grace. I pray that I will always abide in Him so that I will not take a detour and pursue my own pleasures and desires.
