Genesis 5:24
Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
Genesis 5:29
Now he called his name Noah, saying, "This one will give us rest from our work and from the toil of our hands arising from the ground which the Lord has cursed."
Genesis 5 is the genealogy of Adam to Noah. In the middle of the chapter, the Bible mentions Enoch. He is one of the descendants of Adam and one who was pleasing in God's sight. He followed the Lord and honor God, then the Lord took him to be in His presence.
The time when people turned their backs against God, Enoch was found faithful. His life, although short, was a life that sought to honor His Maker. His faith pleased the Lord.
REFLECTION: How does your life show you want to please God?
I always struggle to walk uprightly with God. If not for His mercies and grace, I will always be led astray. As a Christian and someone who is saved despite being unworthy, I want to please the Lord in every aspect of my life especially in being an effective ambassador to share Christ with the people around me. It's a challenge because it requires to let go of our own entitlement and wear the selfless love of Christ that we can share to others.
I always thought that it's easy to love people. But as I grow older and as I see how all of us are crooked and broken, it's easier to give up on loving people. If we only are living for ourselves, we would be giving up relationships with people that make it difficult for us. The example of Christ in loving the unlovable, reaching out to the sinners, is such a bold influence in how we ought to live a life of love and grace. What had been given to us was what we needed to give away.
