Ten – The Safe House

"Mike?" Connor called his investigator as soon as he and Sandra got in the car, "Listen to me. I need you to have that place ready in half an hour. I'm gonna bring Jo in there tonight."

"Tony, what the hell?"

"Look, it's urgent. People are after her. We gotta get her out of the hospital today. I'll look into that. You keep the hideout place ready and meet me outside the hospital premises in one hour. Is that fine with you?"

"I suppose."

"Okay. Thank you Mike. Thank you."

The moment this call ended, Antonio saw that he was getting a call from Jennifer.

"Yes?" asked he.

"You were right," she replied, "I found nothing in the search today. Not a trace of cocaine."

"Who all were there in the house?"

"I don't know. Oliver and one or two of Danny's henchmen, that's all I guess. That and the enormous number of bodyguards."

"Any sign of the big brother?"

"No. I didn't find one face matching the description. I found the escort you were talking about though. The expensive one. She said she wasn't at liberty to disclose anything about any of her clients. But I think I may be able to get her to say something. I'm gonna question her again tomorrow. I'm going to the club you mentioned. Duvall's. Let's see if we can get the name of this guy."

"Don't bother going to the club," sighed Tony, "his name's Manuel Sierra."

"How- how do you know that?"

"I'll tell you later. Meet me outside the hospital in fifteen minutes. Bring your badge. We have something important to do. We'll follow up on the prostitute later. Don't ask me why Jennie, just trust me alright? Jo's life might be in danger again, and I don't wanna put her through that shit once more. So just trust me and come to the hospital."

The car pulled up in front of the hospital in another ten minutes and Tony rushed out. He entered the place and there was only one person he knew there.

"Hey," said he, "what're you doing here?"

"I brought Jo lunch." replied Matt.

"Ya but lunchtime is in the afternoon."

"I decided to stay. Not like I had anything important to do anyways."

"Alright. Did you know Sandra was at Jo's apartment?"

"I knew, yes." Matt spotted her getting out of the car, "What is she doing here?"

"Long story. How's Jo doing?"

"She's fine. Might get discharged tomorrow."

"We need to get her out right now."

"Why?"

"There are people looking for her! Now I don't have time to explain myself Matt, just get a nurse down here to talk to us. I'll explain everything later. Sandy, go to Jo. Tell her we're getting out of this place in ten minutes."

"Okay."

A car stopped in front of the hospital. Tony saw that and headed towards it.

"Hey," asked Jennifer, "what's the matter? Why this sudden change of plans?"

"I'll tell you later," he sighed, "but we've gotta keep her safe. There's a lot of blood on my hands right now Jen."
