// the poem in this is written by j.p. It is tilted "You love him but you can't keep him"//

You love him,
you do,
and here's the miracle:
he loves you too.

Kou Minamoto knew from the moment he met Mitsuba that there was something special about him. The blonde boy made an effort to interact with the other even after his death. Soon enough love has bloomed between the two — it seemed almost fake, a ghost and an exorcist in love — but it was undeniably true.

You are allowed
to have him.

For a few blissful years everything stayed the same. It was the little things that made these times great though, like eating together on the roof, joking around, and sneaking kisses when no one was looking. For Kou it was perfect.

You love each other,
you do,
and here's the tragedy:
it's not enough.

Kou knew from the moment he met Mitsuba that there was something special about him. But he also knew that their love was doomed. No matter how much he cared, no matter how many wishes he made, nothing could bring Mitsuba back to life.

You are allowed
To watch the sun swallow him up,

One night in late spring Kou was sneaking into the school's campus after hours as he did whenever him and Mitsuba wanted some alone time. As the younger Minamoto brother climbed through a window and made his way to the stairs, he heard a strange sound. Turning down another hallway, he froze in place seeing a terrible scene in front of him.

There on the ground lay a bleeding Mitsuba cowering under an unknown figure. In their hand was a glowing bow with similar looking arrows in the quiver that had been slung on their back. They knocked their weapon as electricity surrounded the archery set. Kou realized, too late, that this person was an exorcist and was about to exorcise Mitsuba.

As the blonde rushed forward, a shot was fired straight into Mitsuba's heart—or where it would've been—making his chest glow unnaturally and burn bits of his clothes that were near the wound.

You are allowed
to stain your fingers to the bone holding him together,

Kou cradled Mitsuba in his arms as he tried to tell himself that it would be fine. By now the exorcist had gone, leaving the couple alone in the hallway.

The electricity from the shot seems to be burning the pink haired apparition up from the inside out as Kou desperately tried to piece him back together, blood staining his fingers.

You are allowed
to count the constellations in his eyes as they blink out,

Kou continued reassuring Mitsuba that he would be fine, it was nothing they couldn't fix, until he noticed his love had stopped responding. There were no more pained "ok"s or nods coming from him. Kou watched with silent tears as the stars in Mitsuba's eyes blinked out. He released a strangled scream as the rest of Mitsuba faded away.

You are not allowed
to save him.
