THIS ISN'T WORKING OUT ANYMORE

and as for our long distance couples.

call you everyday? turned into every other day. and that turned into every week and weeks were slowly becoming months.

were they going to let it turn into something else? probably not.

and so here they were now.

lilia and emily were on their (what was supposed to be) nightly face time, this was the first they time they called each other in two weeks. they expected the call to be long, fun, and entertaining because of all the stories they would tell each other.

but all there was was silence. they shared a few stories here and there but there was always a very awkward silence after their laughter or whatever would die down.

and sadly, this is how their last few conversations have been.

"i uhh — i'm hanging out with jill tomorrow"lilia spoke up in an attempt to break the awkward silence but it was no use. emily simply pressed her lips into a thin line and nodded.

"nice"

they both knew what was next. it was literally dangling right above their heads, they just refused to acknowledge it.

"louis wants to hang out tomorrow too because he's in town. can i —"

"you don't have to ask me"

"i was just trying to make conversation"the blonde sighed heavily as she rested her head on her palm

"you know what, you know it, i know it."emily then said making lilia furrow her eyebrows, it took her a few seconds until she finally realized what exactly was going on

"this isn't working out anymore"emily let out sadly.

"i hate that i agree with you"lilia looked down, fiddling with the hem of her skirt as she tried to stop her tears from falling

"i'm sorry lils. it's just — so hard"

"i understand. don't worry"lilia said, chuckling bitter sweetly as she took a deep breath and said

"it's part of our jobs. this is why my last relationship didn't work out so well too"

"that's why you broke up with jaeden?"

"yeah. but he was the one that wasn't around a lot. that's not the point though"the blonde sighed as she leaned back, wiping her tears she said

"i guess we just can't do long distance"

"you know i still love you right?"emily told her, as seeing the girl she loved the most cry felt like her heart was being ripped out of her chest, and she couldn't do anything to comfort her

"i love you too"lilia sniffled as she noticed emily's tears starting to fall as well.

"this is just hard — we can still be friends right?"lilia then asked
