Dear Society

Dear Society,
I won't let you change me,
God made me the person I'm supposed to be.

Quit painting pictures of who I'm supposed to be,
If you don't like that I am my own masterpiece,
Then you can leave.

Enough of dimming my light,
This is my life,
And I'll do as I please.

If you don't like the way I laugh,
Or the way I dance,
You already know where the door leads.

I won't let you sculpt this sculpture,
The clay has dried,
For you it's over.

Don't force me to believe in something, please don't,
I refuse to conform, I just won't.
I don't care to know your critical thoughts, keep them remote.

I refuse to let you force me into the confines of your expectations,
I don't need your limitations,
It's my journey, my destination.

Lastly,
Society,
If you say you don't need me I'll be fine,

It's my life,
And I'll do what feels right,
Don't attempt to bend me, and if you thought about it, consider thinking twice.
