Julian's POV

It was eight thirty and I was waiting for the chime of the bell. The cafe was completely barren, so I had my eyes fixed on the front.
First, was old Tom. As great as he is, I was a little annoyed that it was him who entered first, then I noticed him holding the door open.
Y/n walked in, smiling and thanking him, they let him order first (tea and toast) which I got to making as quickly as possible.
Once it was time for Y/n to order I didn't even ask, hazelnut latte to go. I did this quickly too, burning myself a few times in the process.
I practically slammed the drink down. They reached out, offering the money, which I raced to put in the till.
"I have a question." I may as well have barked at them.
They laughed, a wonderful laugh, genuine. "Fire it."
I realised I'd now reached the point of no return, I couldn't spend the rest of our fleeting time together asking to ask questions that never answered the questions I actually wanted to ask. It had suddenly grown quite hot, but I strove to carry on.
"What if we got coffee together, this weekend?" I choked on my words part way through.
They smiled warmly, eyes floating around the cafe. My breath caught in my throat, but then they replied.
"I'm free Saturday at three?"
"Three, great, great, good." I felt my smile widen, too hard to fight back. "There's a place down-" I gestured towards the clock tower in the city centre- "that way called Rose n' Robin's. Fancy it?"
And with that the plan was sealed, they left to go to work.

I'd be a repulsive liar if I claimed not to be nervous, I hadn't bothered to shave -my hands were shaking so much that it would result in disaster- but people love a five o'clock shadow, right? I'd be fine.
I opted for black jeans, autumnal jumper and a black overcoat. I was toying between eyepatch or no eyepatch when Pasha called.
"Good luck!" It was her and Nadia on the other end. "We loooove yooouuu."
I didn't want to scare them on our first date, eyepatch it was.

I'd set off towards the cafe, arriving just after three -my double checking what I had already double checked had made me a fraction late.
Drawing nearer, I noticed the familiar shape of Y/n waiting next to the narrow, pink building.
