I put my head on the door as I held a silver tray on my hands. "Come on, Celia. Open the door." I said. No response. She had been asleep all night, leaving me to care for myself.
Her closest friend Mia had brung her home last night. They had went to the movie theater.
I twisted the handle, and closed my eyes. I had always been forbidden out of her room, after I had caught her in bed with my stepfather. As I opened my eyes, I looked around. Everything had changed.
I set the platter on the bed. There under the covers was a heap of lumps. Soft snoring came from under the sheets.
Thats when I noticed it.
A large bottle of rum and a glass of vodka was on the bed table. How could she do this?
She had been going to A Local Alcohol Rehab for over three months now. She used to drink all the time, and leaving for days, or maybe weeks at a time at bars. She had been getting better every day.
I looked at her as if she was a monster. Then I picked the bottle up and smashed it against the wall. She sat up in bed. "Whut da hell are you doing?" She slurred in her loud Russian accent.
"What you should've done hours ago!" I yelled angrily at her. I crouched on the wall and buried my face in my hands.
"It wazz only a few slots." She grumbled.
I didn't even want to look her in the face. I had never yelled at her before.
"Judging by this?" I shook the almost empty glass in her face.
"Is this what you want, Celia?" I yelled again. I picked up a shard of the broken botttle and held it to my wrist.
"Your being so dramatic. Why do you call me by my first name?" She shouted.
Her eyes we're bloodshot slits, Her hair mussed and her face a dark red.
"I'll start calling you Mom when you act like one!" I sobbed.
"Go to hell. You can go homeless for all I care, so I won't have to deal with your shit." She said.
I picked up my phone, the only phone that we had in this poor cage, and that's exactly what I did.
