The Incident

Elena's POV
Wow, it's bright in here. I open my eyes, it's dark. I reach for him. Where is he? I'm getting nervous.
"Ah, Elena. You're finally awake."
No way. That can't be. Ste-
"Stefan Salvatore?"
"Oh, so you do remember me?"
"Stefan, what are you doing?! Let me go!"
"I don't think so. See I want to let you go. I want to let you be free and happy, but my orders come from someone else."
I keep quiet. What could I say? He almost sounds...compelled?
"Stefan...are you o-"
I get interrupted by a new voice... or two?
"Elena, oh bloody hell. You were supposed to stay asleep for a while longer. Didn't the vervain work?"
"My fiancé and I have been building up a tolerance to it"
Yes, Damon and I are engaged.
It was a beautiful proposal. He took me on a road trip and proposed on the beach. The engagement ring also became my new daylight ring.
"Fiancé?!"
"Stefan we waited for you to come home but-"
"Come home?! Elena you're engaged to my brother. I'm happy here with my new family."
"New family?" I ask quietly.
"Rebekah, Elijah and I have been travelling the world as-"
"Enough! No more small talk." Screams...Elijah?
Someone walks up to me and I can feel their breath on my face.
"You will love me the way you love your fiancé one day. You have my word on that."
"EXCUSE ME?!" What the hell. What the actual hell is happening. I pull on the ropes binding me to the chair. It stings.
"AHHH!" Vervain.
"Don't be stupid, Elena. We will take off the blindfold. Elijah will compel you the way I compelled Stefan and we will be a happy family. You won't even remember What's-his-name."
"Are you people crazy?! I love Damon! I will never forget that."
They took off my blindfold. I saw him. We were in a warehouse with lots of large cargo boxes. There behind the smallest one in the room I spotted his precious blue eyes. He signalled for me to keep quiet. I did.
"Fine. If I won't remember him, then it isn't my fault. Compel me"
Elijah steps forward. He leans close to my face. I assume to compel me. He moves lower. Ew. He's gonna kiss me. I squint my eyes shut and then I hear a crack. I look up and breathe a sigh of relief. Elijah, Rebekah and Stefan all lie dead on the floor. Caroline and Damon stand in front of me. I notice Bonnie still hidden in the back as she emerges from the boxes. I smile slyly but happily at him.
"Thank  you"
He vamp speeds to me and kisses me. We both smile into the kiss. I can lost in the moment until Caroline clears her throat.
"Ahem."
I pull away and smack my lips, holding eye contact with him.
We grin at each other.
"You'd think I'd be used to this by now."
The moment's gone. He begins untying the ropes and we hold eye contact most of the time.
Someone stirs. Oh no.
Damon helps me up. I crumble to the ground. He half hugs me, half carries me.
"Damon..." I whisper.
Elijah stands up.
Damons holds me protectively behind him.
"Who the hell do you think you are trying to convince my fiancée to forget who I am?!"
"I'm but a man in love with another's betrothed."
He moves slowly and places me with Caroline. Caroline supports me and helps me stay upright. I'm not healing as quickly because I've been starved of blood. Damon gets in Elijah's face.
"Damon...let's just go" I whisper.
"No Elena. He needs to understand something."
"See Elena I would never disagree with you."
I roll my eyes.
"I need a contradictory opinion at times. And I LOVE Damon Salvatore's"
Damon begins speaking to Elijah.
"Stay away from my fiancée. Stay away from the love of MY life. We are happy together."
He signals something slyly at Caroline and in the next second, we're all outside. Damon's holding Bonnie. I run to her.
"You're okay!"
We both say at the same time. We giggle.
Damon walks up to me. "My turn..." He growls playfully.
I walk slowly to him and squeeze him in a hug. He hugs me tighter and picks me up and spins me around.
"I'm so glad you're okay"
"Thanks to you. I love you, Damon."
"And, I love you."
