Echoes And A Maze

Chapter 2

The next morning I woke up with a lot of pain in my back. I blamed the ground for being so hard. Yes, I had to sleep on the ground, there wasn't something like a blanket or something to lay on but it hadn't been that cold in the night.

I think it's 6 AM when I wake up because the sun hasn't touched the glade yet but it's light already. It takes another hour before I hear footsteps coming my way, it is those of a boy who seemed yesterday to be the leader, I think cause he's the oldest. He is 18 I think. ''Hi greenie, my name is Alby if Chuck hasn't told you yesterday I'm the leader of this group. I came here to give you a tour in the glade. You already remember your name?'' ''No, I don't remember it yet,'' I said while I shook my head. I put my hair in a ponytail while Alby opens the door/gate. I step out and get used to the light. ''So, where do we begin?'' I asked Alby ''Uhm. We start where you started, at the box, from there I'll start. Questions may be asked at the end.'' I already had some questions I wanted to ask pretty bad like: Why was I the only girl here? Am I special or something? 

The tour started at the box I yesterday arrived in. The door was closed and the box seemed to be gone already. (writers note: I don't remember how the glade looks that good, so I'll just try my best) We walk to the right when Alby starts talking ''Right from you we grow food like vegetables and fruits. No one is working yet because it's 7:30AM, they are having breakfast now over there'' While he said the last sentence he pointed at a big wooden cabin sort-building where you heard people eating, we continued. ''Over there, next to the dinner place we have the kitchen, no one is allowed there except Frypan and those who help him'' Okay so, dinner place, kitchen I wasn't allowed in. Overall the place had a lot of places with trees, close to big stone walls a little forest. 

After the kitchen Alby continued ''That wooden house you're also not allowed in. Runners and me only.'' ''Runners? What are those?'' I asked. ''No questions until the end remember greenbean?'' I sighed ''Okay...'' Great another thing I'm not allowed in, where am I aloud to go in?? 50 metres next to the little wooden house there was a big farm where animals were walking ''Part of that farm is a slaugherhause, we can't survive with vegetables and fruit only'' They slaugher those poor animals?? If I have to start my life again I actually wanna be a vegetarian. Then I remembered the burger from last night, I have only ate a little piece of it cause the rest of it was burnt.. So I could just start now as being a vegetarian. ''On the other half of the farm we just take care of the animals, we only slaughter those who have been hurt or those who are pretty old. The animals here only live for 5/6 months, It's short but I think they have been injected with something that just gives them a shorter life cycle.'' Alby said. ''That's pretty awful for those animals.'' I said ''It is what it is, they have been put in here for a reason.'' Poof, another couple of questions in my head I wanna ask... 

When we were almost finished Alby yelled to the dinner place the name of a boy ''Newt! Newt can you come?'' The blonde boy with the strong accent came to Alby. ''This is Newt, when I'm not around he is in charge.'' Alby said and introduced Newt. Then he turned to Newt and said ''Newt, can you help this greenie, I gotta help Minho in the maproom'' ''Yeh, sure'' Newt answered and Alby took of to the little wooden house. Newt walked with me to a tower that wasn't that stable ''Hope you don't have a fear of heights'' He said while he climbed up the ladder and I followed him. When we were at the highest floor of the tower Newt said ''Alby told me you haven't asked questions yet, so I can answer most of them for you, he also said you can't remember your name yet. That will come soon enough, Chuck had to have a week before he remember his.'' ''He said to me that it took him around 2 days'' I said ''Well, he's probably a little ashamed of it. He's the youngest from all of us. So, you must have questions otherwise you're the first shank without any.'' ''Shank? What does that mean?'' Newt sighed and said ''It's like idiot, something like that, But less mean, we say it quote a lot here.'' ''Why Am I the only girl here?'' that was my first question ''No one knows, we have been trying to figure out that last night, we still have no clue...'' ''Who have put us here?'' ''We don't know that either, everyone their memories have been whiped. Every single person of us woke up in a box and couldn't remember anything.''
