Why is your mind unreadable?

Chapter 4

I woke to the sound of Taylor swift blasting through my ears. We are never getting back together.

With the song in my mind, I get up. Shower quickly and walk towards my walk in closet. Opening the door I get a fast glimpse of myself in the mirror; I look like a drowned rat. I get my best pair of ripped skinny jeans, a white tank top and a navy cropped jacket with large gold buttons.

After getting changed, I blow dry my cascading blonde hair and do nothing else other than brush threw it. Leaving my natural waves to sort themselves. I grab my black heels- I slowly open Sarah's door and peek in; she's ill. I creep over to her and feel her forehead-fever ish. After a kiss on the head I leave letting her sleep. I look at my watch. Shit I'm late. I run down stairs and tell mum Sarah's ill, she has agreed to keep an eye on her, thankfully. I hastily dial Louis number, he answers with the words "I'm on my way sweetheart" I smile like an idiot and grab my bag, slip my heels on and go outside to wait for him.

I wouldn't class the car ride as awkward but, as soon as he parked I don't think I could've got away any quicker. I made up the excuse that I needed to talk to my English teacher about an assignment, he nodded and anxiously pecked his lips against mine. He knew I was lying it was all that was going through his mind, guilt flooded my thoughts as I turned and walked away.

What am running awy from?

Him. Or the endless ideas of what he actually wanted to tell me last night. Even I don't know.

As I strut towards my locker I see a tall, muscular figure standing in the way of my locker. I clear my throat. He spins around to face me almost knocking me over in the process. " your standing in the way of my locker" I mumble pointing towards it. He coughs " oh sorry, I'm new could you tell me where advanced English is? Oh I'm Alex by the way" he sticks out his hand- " I'm Millie, I also have that class I will walk you, If you want?" I meet his gorgeous blue gaze. He eagerly nods. I flas him my one in a million smile "one sec" I pull out my phone and see a text from Paul- 'Sarah is still not well but temperature has gone down slightly, your mother is going to the office at lunch and i have a meeting, is there anyway you can miss last lesson to look after her?'

I quickly reply ' I will come home at lunch, ring the school and say I have a dentist appointment and won't be returning after I leave at 1pm and it should be fine for me to miss last lesson'

"Ready" I say smiling, Alex just stares and nods. When we reach class I take my seat at the back and Alex-after talking to Miss Stow- takes the seat beside me. Louis walks in glaring at the both of us.oh dear. Before he takes his seat the other side of me he places a sweet long lasting kiss on my cheek. They burn red. I feel Alex staring at me, I take a quick glimpse at him, bad idea- his once beautiful eyes have turned cold and hard. His thoughts fill my mind but all I hear is... 'Blank'

The rest of the morning went quick. After English Louis basically stormed off leaving me alone. As I slowly walk to maths I notice a lost looking sex god. Alex. I tap his shoulder. He turns to look at me, he chuckles, woah his smile,mmmm.

He walks with me. Before he turns to go into his maths class I ask" hay Alex,you have a car?"

"Yeaa why?" He says looking confused.

"Don't suppose you fancy driving me home at lunch?"I ask giving my best puppy dog eyes.

"I would but I do.."I interrupt him"please I have to look after my little sister, I will do anything for you,please!"

He smiles" All I was going to say is that I don't know the way to your house.."

"Now I feel stupid, I live quite close you will be able to find your way back" I laugh.

I get out of the car and turn around to see a very smiley Alex.

"Goodbye Alex" I say with a flirty smile.

Wait 'flirty'?! I have a sort of boyfriend and I'm flirting with someone I just met...what am I doing?!

He winked "see you around Millie" and with that he drove away.

As I open the door I'm met with screaming..mum?

"Mum what's wrong?" I screech, "it's just not right! Where are the files, I'm already late, for gods Sake!"

I cautiously walk towards mums study; "mum it's okay, you took everything in yesterday remember? Now quick get going I will call you if Sarah gets worse" I smile, she sighs with relief" what would I do without you ay Millie?" She lightly kisses my cheek and runs out of the door.

I run upstairs. "Sarah?"

"In the bathroom, be out in a minute"

" okay meet me in my room"

A couple of minutes later Sarah pads into my room,"hay Millie"

"Hay how you feeling? We still okay to go to dads tonight?" I say with a hopeful smile.

"You can, I don't want to, sorry Millie I don't feel like going anywhere today"

"Okay" and with that she leaves;returning to her own room to her own bed.

'BEEP' my head snaps towards my phone- a text.

From Louis. It reads: hay baby, where are you, I have skipped. I saw you leave school at lunch,can I come over? Loveyoulots x

I quickly replied my fingers tapping away at the screen: hi, Ermm yeah sure, I'm at home, Sarah is sick but I think she has gone back to sleep- come in through the back I'm not sure if mum has left or not, loveyoutoo x

I stood up and looked at myself in the long curved mirror; I straightened my long blonde hair and reapplied the essential makeup.

I heard the back door open.
