What the hell? "Elsie, I'm back!" Cried my mother as she attempted to hug me. Oh, fuck. "Why?" I shouted in her face, but she didn't answer. I was so angry. The one time my life was actually turning out okay, she had to come and mess things up. "Dylan, let's go find our car." I said, pulling on his arm with slight desperation. "It's not coming... I cancelled it." My mother blurted out. "Wha-" "I told Gran I'd drive you home." She said, far too casually. "And she let you?" I screamed, angrily. "Well, not exactly." I looked up at Dylan for something to say. My mother had me lost for words. I sighed. "Fine." I said, rolling my eyes at Dylan. My mother smiled at me but I turned away. "Well, are you coming?" She said, already halfway out of the door.
The car ride home was extremely awkward. When we finally pulled up outside of Dylan's house, I couldn't wait to get out so I offered to help him take his stuff up to his room. "I'll meet you back home." I shouted to my mother as I walked up the path to Dylan's front door. Dylan and I were greeted by his mom who now seemed nicer than ever and then we headed upstairs.
"What the fuck?" I panted, throwing myself onto Dylan's bed as he closed the door. I shook my head and sat up, then pulled my knees to my chest. "You're cute when you're angry." He laughed. I rolled my eyes. "You have to talk to her." Said Dylan, sitting down next to me. I sighed, realising he was right. "I know, but what do I say?" I asked. "Well, you don't even know why she came back yet." "Her boyfriend probably broke up with her." I snorted "I'm not suprised, she's a bitch." "Elsie! She's your mother! You can't say that." Said Dylan, looking very suprised. "She might be my mother, but that doesn't change what she's done to me." I sighed and closed my eyes, resting my head against the wall, trying to calm down. "If you go now and talk to her, you can spend the rest of the night here with me. Is that better?" Said Dylan, looking at me for a reaction. "Ugh. Fine." I sighed again, getting up. I grabbed my stuff and walked towards the door. Dylan got up and followed me. "I love you, you know." He said, smiling and grabbing my waist. "I love you too, but you can wait until tonight." I replied, escaping his grasp. I kissed him on the cheek and then headed downstairs.
