Thor was laying in his bed at Avengers tower reading. yes, Thor technically has a whole palace he could be staying in right now back in Asgard, but he enjoys the time he spends in Midgard with his mortal friends, gods can be quite draining to be around all the time. Thor strived for a simpler life. yes he enjoys his life back home, but it was very overwhelming. Odin does nothing with thor but prepare him for taking the thrown, that's all hes ever done with him and his brother loki, ever since they were kids odin has spoke nothing but ruling tactics and how to run a society, and thor wonders if that's what drove his brother away. Thor had always wished he could have done more to stop his brother from going down the path he did, thor never truly forgave himself for what happened to loki weather it really be his fault or not.

Thor was pulled out of his book about... you know what Thor wasn't actually reading it, Midgardian books are always so hard to follow. his attention was pulled to a noise coming from outside his room. it sounded like jingling keys and agitated grunting. Thor set his book down and went to go check out the strange noises. he opened his door and looked across the hall to see steve doing his gosh darn best to open his door. "c'mone you....son of a...." steve could not for the life of him get the key into the hole. "hello captain rogers" steve whipped around, obviously startled by the low voice. "oh..shit.. hey thor y' scared the hell outta me buddy." steve giggled as he leaned his back against the door. thor noticed the slur of steves words as they came from his mouth. "my apologies captain-"  "jus call me steve thor, yer good buddy, don't even worry about it." steve smiled at thor. thor gave steve a small smile. "alright, steve, um, are you.. have you been drinking at all tonight?" thor leaned against his doorframe and crossed his arms. "oh shit is that obvious? s-sorry man, im just- ill go away now." steve turned around to his door again and tried his best at the lock again. thor watched him for a bit before realizing how drunk steve really is, and the serum prevents him from getting drunk off regular alcohol, so he can only imagine what the hell steve got his hands on to get this smacked. "steven perhaps you would like some help?" thor walked over to steve. "oh no thor im-im great ill be fine, don't wanna bother you buddy." steve went back to, whatever it was he was trying to do now. thor looked at steve a moment before snatching the keys from steves hands "hey!" thor opened the door with ease. steve just looked at the door a moment. "you win this round odinson." he grabbed the keys from thor and walked inside. thor was about to walk back to his room when he saw the interior of steve room. thor walked into the room right as steve fell onto the couch, which, aside from a small end table supporting a static tv, was the only furniture in the room. "um steve, maybe you would feel more comfortable in your bed?" thor said. "don't got one." steve said without opening his eyes. "w-what do you mean you don't have one?" thor said. "take a guess thor, shot in the dark." thor took a lap around steves room. he went into the bedroom and saw no bed, but he did see an art desk with all of steves scribbles and doodles on it. his kitchen had a microwave and a fridge and a stove. thors room was perfectly furnished when he arrived, and the other team members aswell. he couldn't figure out why steves was like this. he was just about to ask but when he walked back into the living room, steve was fast asleep on the couch. it made thor sad to see his friend like this. he sat at the edge of the couch next to steve and watched him. he wasn't sure if he should leave him like this. thor scanned steves body, not entirely sure what he was looking for until he found it. on the inside of steves arms were some perfectly lined up scars. "oh...steve." thor gently picked up steves arm and ran his fingers gently over the bumpy skin.

"watcha doin?" thor was startled by steves question. "n-nothing." thor said. "really? cuz it looks to me like your checkin out my scars." thor put steves arm down. "would you be more comfortable in a bed steve? I have one in my room I don't mind sharing." thor said putting his hand on steves arm. "like I said before thor, I don't wanna get in the way, ive been sleeping jus fine on this lil couch here for at least two years and my back only hurts sometimes."   "it shouldn't hurt at all steve."  "shaddup" steve slid thors arm off his. "steve come back to my room with me and you can stay the night. I don't feel comfortable leaving you here by yourself." thor said looking around the room for any harmful objects steve might have tried to hide. "im fine thor."  "well you don't seem that way." steve glared at thor.

"im not leaving until you agree to leave with me." thor said. "uuuggghhhhh, fine you stubborn ass." steve sat up and let thor help him to his feet. they walked to thors room, closing the door behind them. thor rummaged around for the smallest pair of jammies he owned so that maybe they fit the smaller man. "here" thor handed the jammies to steve. "thor im fine my jeans are very comfort-"

"steve go change into these jammies right now or im burning all your art projects." steve paused a moment. "ok fine, Jesus Christ" steve got up and went to the bathroom to change. thor got under the covers of one side of the bed and tried to read his book again while he waits for steve. steve came out of the bathroom moments later, the red flannel jammies were obviously way to big for him but at least thor tried. steve stood there a minute before thor patted the other side of the bed. steves eyes were glued to the spot thor patted.

"why do you care about me so much?" steve asked. he looked back at thor.

the question should have been easier to answer than it was. it could be because steve is his teammate, and thor always looks out for his team. no that's not right, maybe thor considered steve a friend, and it hurt to see his friend living in the condition and mental state that he was in, but it still felt like more than that. something thor wasn't ready to admit yet.

"because I do steve. now I think its high time you get to bed." thor put his unreadable book aside and flicked his lamp off just as steve crawled under the covers beside him. thor settled under the blankets. there was a long period of quite as both men tried to sleep. thor figured that if steve was as smacked as he thinks he is, he should just say it. "steven" thor said. "hm" steve hummed barely awake. "you know I care about you for reasons I cannot explain to you while your sober." thor said looking at steves back. steve flipped over to face thor. "whys that?" thors heart began to beat faster and his breath was shaky. "I mean, I care about you more than I do the others, if I found anyone elses room like yours, or their arms the same, obviously I would be concerned but I wouldn't let them stay here with me like I let you." thor said. "theres something about you steve, something that makes me want to leave everything ive built on asgard behind and let everything go. to just be free even if its only for a moment. and I do feel somewhat free when im with you steve." thor looked into steves eyes to try to see any reaction. "w-whats that all about thor? whats that mean? wait why did you-" steves sentence was cut short by thors lips on his. thor slid his hand into steves short blonde hair. steve momentarily melted into the kiss before thor pulled away. theres was an odd silemce between them for a moment. thor smiled endearingly at steve and turned back around to face the other way.

"thor?" steve said. "hm" thor said. "why did you say all that stuff.. and then do that thing?" steve asked.

"because I know you wont remember."
