Dear Diary.
Today I was helping Teresa around the Salon like usual, taking drinks to customers and cleaning rooms and suddenly she told me that I can have the day off. I asked her why and she showed me todays newspaper, it said that there was gold found in Victoria.
I was really surprised and excited, instantly knowing what we could do with that gold. I told Teresa that I want to go and get some gold. When she asked why I told her how I knew about the thugs and how I want to help somehow. She told me I have to be properly prepared so I asked what I should bring. She told me that I need a tent and a weapon for shelter and defense, as well as a pickaxe and gold pan. So I went to the local shop to buy that with the little money I have.
I came back with the equipment and gave Teresa a hug. She knew I was going to go whether she lets me or not so she allowed me to take our donkey Betty with some rations to get there. I thanked her and gave her a final hug then said goodbye. She said goodbye back with a tear in her eye and I knew I had to get that gold to help her.
It's day one of the travel to the hills. I've never been there before and am excited to see it. I've decided to do a cycle of riding for two hours at a trot pace and then rest, giving Betty some water for ten minutes.
It's my first night on the road. It's quite cold without a sturdy house to live in so I pitched my tent for the night, tied Betty to a a fence next to the tent and placed a blanket on her. I kept my trusty shotgun by my side while I slept for extra security. I've decided not to write again until I get to the next town.
It's day four of my travels. I saw a village up ahead and gratefully accepted it. As I rode Betty into the town some people gave me weird looks, I guess I must've been the first person from my town passing through. I tied Betty up to the stable post and went into the shop to buy some more rations. I went to see the local salon but didn't have enough money to rent a room. so I roughed it out in the tent again. Next time I write I'll be at the gold hills.
It's day seventeen. I've arrived at the gold hills, they're so crowded. I ride to the camping area and then ride to the forest next to it. I pitch my tent away from the other tents and tied Betty up to a tree. I gave her food and relaxed. I'm happy I got here.
