Day 2
I woke up. Again checking to see if I still have everything then eating a breakfast of bread I got up, did my usual morning routine and then walked to the river to find Sally. I found her all right, she was holding a fish the size of my torso.
"What in god's name are you holding!" I shouted
"A fish." she said calmly
"Well could you please put that beast in a basket and show me where John is?"
"Sure"
We then sold the fish at the market for 15 shillings and then started walking toward farmer John's house. In around an hour we arrived at his house. I walked up to the door and knocked thrice, I then waited a minute and the door opened.
"G'day visitors" John said.
"G'day. My name's Daphne and this is Sally, we heard about you from one of Sally's friends and wanted to say hi."
"Sure.. You're miners aren't you?"
"Yeah. What about it?"
"You sick of living in those tents? I might have a spare room depending on your attitude."
"Really!? I mean really? could we please stay there?"
"Sure but only if you pay around a shilling each every month and do some chores around the house."
"We can do that!" We both exclaimed.
"But I have a donkey. Is there anywhere safe here where I could keep it?" I said to him.
"Sure. Just in the stables over there but don't count on it being completely safe. Those bushrangers can be real pests."
We both say our thanks and hand over a shilling each. We then walk to our camps, pack up and move everything into Johns house. I let Sally put her stuff on Betty too since we're walking.
"Again, thank you so much!" I said to John after we got back and moved in.
"No problem" He said.
I walked to the room we set our stuff up in. Sally got the window half and I got the door half. It was late and I was tired so I went to my sleeping bag and fell asleep.
