After supper, Alfred was waiting in the living room. He was ready to meet his papa, he was turning every few minutes to the door.

"Really Matthew, you are going to hurt your neck by doing that." Uncle Arthur started looking up from the book he was reading.

"I'm looking for Papa, shouldn't he be back by now?"

"Yes, but he's other things to do also."

  "Other things?"

"I'll have your papa talk about it."
"What is it, give me a hint."

  "I can't..."

By that time the door opened and Alistair Kirkland walked into the house. Alfred jumped from his seat and ran to him. He was overjoyed when he was picked up by the arms and then was kissed on the forehead.

  "Hello, laddie."

"Papa." he whispered, as if he spoke louder that his papa would leave.

  "Yep, I miss ye Matthew.."

Alfred felt sadness then, his father thought he was Matthew. He didn't know that he was Alfred, that he and Matthew had met, that they had switched places. He wanted to tell him that he was Alfred but he also wanted Matthew to meet his mama.

"So tell me how was your time at camp."

Alfred brightened up and started to tell his papa about his time at camp. He was happy to tell him about it and liked the smiled on his papa's face. He also liked the laughter from him and sometimes Arthur.

It was only a few minutes later that he yawned. He was tried from the trip and seeing his papa, he didn't even feel when his papa got up and took him into Matthew's bedroom. He did though grabbed his shirt when he tried to leave.

"Okay lad, I stay the night."

He sighed and snuggled his papa as fell asleep, wondering if his brother was having a good time. What he didn't know that the next day that he would be surprised with a person who would put his dream on hold.

(With Matthew)

Matthew was taking a walk through the house after escaping from his grandpa. He did love him and Ludwig but he didn't like to smothered, and he didn't know what to think of Uncle Matthias who was in the kitchen.

So he was walking in the house searching for Alfred's room or a library. He stopped in his tracks when he heard the sound of a piano. The melody that was playing seemed to draw him, like it was just for him.

He found himself drawn to a door that was opened a crack. He took a breath and opened it more. He was greeted to a room filled with everything to do with music. In the center was a piano which was opened to hear the melody playing. On one side there was four windows to of which were French doors which led to a platform out side.

Yet his young eyes went to the person playing. Her white blond hair was lose and looked like white waves on tides. She wore a dark blue turtle neck and blue jeans. Her head bobbed in rhythm as she played.

"Hush now my baby be still love don't cry."

He walked in, the voice was soft like his. Alfred told him that sometimes when her voice felt better their mama would sing. Even though her voice had a little rasp to it, it sounded wonderful to his ears.

"Sleep as your rocked by the stream."

He also knew this song, his papa would sing to him when he was sick. Now he realized why, it was song that meant so much to his papa because his mama sang it. He walked over to her holding Kuma.

"Sleep and remember my last lullaby and I'll be with you when you dream."

He waited and watched as she turned to face him. His eyes met hers and he hugged her. He snuggled her and whispered the words he wanted to say for a while.

  "Mama."

He then felt words on his back, he could tell what they were.

  "Welcome home my little viking."

He just snuggled her, he didn't care that she thought he was Alfred. She was here with him and that was all that mattered.
