⚠️SWEARING+SLURS+SPOILERS⚠️

Third person POV

Kokichi awoke to a bright beam of sunlight shining in from the window, landing directly on his eyes. He squinted, then slowly sat upward. It'd been a few days since the reunion, when Kokichi received forgiveness, and Maki's sudden exit. Sure, they weren't the BEST company for eachother, even so, Kokichi couldn't help but worry about his former classmate.

It's my fault isn't it? She still hates me. I can't say I'm exactly surprised though. They all hate me, right? Theres no way they can give me forgiveness, just like that. Not after what I've done to them, what I've put them through. They were faking it, all of them. They acted out of pity. Momota, Toujo, Yonaga, Saihara, all of them.

...

Shaihara...

...

... maybe,

..

No, there's no way.

Exactly. You're dumbass finally got something right. A piece of shit like you doesn't deserve him. I mean look at you. So PITIFUL. You look like you just woke up from a five year coma, you're so skinny and frail, your eyes look glazed and don't get me started on the fucking eye bags. Your scars are there for EVERYONE to see, so they know how much a weak, worthless, being you are, I mean, if you could just defend yourself and stop being a depressed little bitch, you wouldn't look like this. Maybe if you had cared a little more and thought a little harder, made a god damn effort, you could have saved them, and you could still walk and Momota would be in far better condition. You sleep and eat so much, you'd expect for you to have a bit more more attractiveness. But no. Instead, you're fucking DISGUSTING.

And Saihara, oh Saihara, he's perfect. His blue silky hair, and bright amber eyes. He's tall and actually looks like he has a decent fucking sleep schedule. His soft pale skin, and thin lips are gorgeous. His soft calming voice is so soothing, you don't deserve a single fucking word of reassurance from him. A weak, frail, dull, lifeless, worthless fucking piece of shit like you doesn't deserve him. He was able to save them, he was able to make a damn effort and save them.

Supreme leader? Oh, please. You fucking left your quote on quote 'organization' for dead, and for what? The money? Did you really think you could achieve that? You're such a fucking dumbass. You retard.

stop... please

Kokichi's thoughts cut off when he heard the door open, to reveal Hajime. Kokichi quickly hid his face in his hands when he realized there were tears streaming down his cheeks.

Hajime looked at Kokichi,  and his joyful expression turned into a concerned one. "Hey, you alright?" The doctor asked.

Kokichi nodded, shaming himself for lying. Truth be told, Kokichi didn't like lying to Hajime. It didn't feel right to him.

Hajime sat on the bed next to Kokichi. "You're not. I can tell. I don't want to pressure you, but I'd like to know what's up." He said calmly.

Kokichi looked up and made eye contact with his doctor, the tear stains on his porcelain-like cheeks now visible. After a quick moment, Kokichi turned his head and reached his arm out to grab the notepad and pen off the bedside table. Once both were in his grasp, Kokichi began to scribble down a sentence. "I'd prefer not to say" was the thing the patient wrote down.

Hajime stood, and opened his mouth so he could say, "Okay then. That's alright. Hey, to get your mind off of whatever's troubling you, why don't we go out again?"

Kokichi quickly nodded, forgetting about the possibility of running into Maki in the moment. Hajime smiled, then told the patient that he'd be back in a bit, just to give some time for the other to get ready.

About ten minutes after Hajime's exit, the brown haired doctor returned. Kokichi looked much better, there were no signs he'd been crying previously, and his snowy hair wasn't as messy anymore. Hajime walked over to the bed, and picked Kokichi up with ease, plopping him down into the wheelchair gently. And then they were off.

After a short while and Kokichi getting lost in his own mind again, him and Hajime arrived at the cafeteria. Kokichi examined the people at the table they were headed to.

Akamatsu, Saihara, Amami, Momota, Harukawa, and Iruma.

Shit.

It's not like Kokichi had a problem with Kaede, Shuichi, Rantaro, or Kaito, after all they showed their forgiveness already, it was Maki and Miu that he was worried about.

Once him and Hajime reached the table, everyone had caught sight of Kokichi already. Maki carefully stood from her seat and calmly walked toward Kokichi, wearing a blank expression. Kokichi's anxiety suddenly spiked and he began panicking about what Maki needed from him. Or, perhaps, it was something she wanted to give to him, something that while others had already gifted him with, she didn't show the slightest intention of doing the same.

Once they were standing, well technically Kokichi sitting, face to face, with Maki bending downward so that they easily made eye contact, Maki began speaking. "I would like to formally apologize for my hostility toward you. It's just that it's a bit hard to get over you dragging Kaito into your absolutely reckless plan, knowing he would most likely get executed. Even so, you only had good intentions, so I guess I can try to forget about it. So now then, how about we forgive eachother now, for our unjustified actions?"

As Maki held out her arm for a formal handshake, Kokichi's throat grew a tight knot. Small beads of tears formed at the corners of his eyes.

Kokichi shakily held out his arm and his and Makis hands made contact. Maki then gently but professionally shook her arm up and down, then breaking contact.

Kokichi felt an overwhelming sense of joy flood through him.

He'd been forgiven.
