It was a dark cold night in the city of New York. The streets were alive with humans chatting and loud cars driving by. The once warm breeze grew cold, the temperature began to drop, and the trees in Central Park started to lose its leafy green color. Fall was near. Never good for a cold blooded reptile like Slash, the leader of the Mighty Mutanimals.
There were rumors going around of a mysterious being running around the city. Criminals were being stopped, but it wasn't by Slash's team or the Turtles, or even Karai's clan. Then who? The stranger would come and go, fleeing from the scene without a trace. Slash didn't wish to get the turtles involved until he knew what he and the Mutanimals were dealing with so he and his team formed a patrol onto the city.
Slash sent Leatherhead, Mondo Gecko, and his newest recruit Mona Lisa, out to patrol the north side of the city while Slash went off alone to explore the south side. Slash eventually found himself by the docks of the city, where many of their past fights and adventures accrued, scouting up top one of the abandoned warehouses. It was quiet. Nothing but the calm breeze and the sound of the ocean's current.
"Any sign of the threat?" Rockwell asked through Slash's caller. Rockwell stayed back at the Mutanimals' lair, examining the city through his computers and listening in to police calls to find any clues on where this stranger was last spotted. Mondo Gecko would always refer to him as "The Guy in The Chair". Slash was a little envious that Rockwell was inside and warm, while he was out on patrol during this cold night.
"We can't say there even is a threat. We don't know if they're hostile or not," Slash tells Rockwell through his communication device.
"Just keep an eye out," Rockwell reminds him, "My intel says this being is very dangerous, who or whatever it is..."
"Well, I've all been scouting all night and have seen nothing odd. What about the others?"
"They have nothing either," Rockwell responds, "Are you sure you are alright patrolling alone? You could've taken a partner."
"I trust Leatherhead to look after Mondo Gecko, it's best he doesn't go alone," Slash explains, "And Mona Lisa is still unfamiliar with Earth and our rules, so I think it's best for her to travel in a group than with just one partner for now."
"Well, I don't understand why didn't you just take Jason with you. Leatherhead could have handled Y'gythgba on his own."
"Would you have wanted to be alone with Mondo Gecko on patrol?" Slash asked
"...Good point."
Slash chuckles at Rockwell's defeat before continuing, "I'll do one more route around the docks then head back. Tell everyone else to do the same."
"On it. See you soon." Rockwell hangs up.
Slash puts away his communication device and looks back out to the big city of New York, seeing the large buildings tower over him as they shine bright with their blinding light. He's always out on patrol during these late hours, but Slash never truly gets to appreciate how beautiful the city really is. It makes him kind of glad he hasn't ran into any trouble all night.
"Alright, one final trip then I'm done," Slash tells himself as begins to head off, jumping from rooftop to rooftop, swiftly and quietly. Not bad for a giant mutant turtle like him.
As he continues his run, Slash begins to hear something faintly in the distance. Quickly he stops in his tracks and examines the sound. In the distance he heard grunting and punches being thrown.
"A fight?" Slash thought to himself.
Slash takes out his battle mace and quickly heads over to the location of the sound. He jumped to a few more warehouse rooftops before finding the source of the noises. Slash, still up on the high rooftop, looks down to the alleyway on the docks. There he spotted a gang of criminals surrounding a mysterious being who hid themselves in the shadows.
