Everyone was seemingly ready to go out today. The girls were both awake and giving me no trouble, Eli was slightly annoyed at being awoken early but was cooperating. We managed to get everyone out of the house on time for breakfast.
The girls had already had a bottle each, so they wouldn't be eating, maybe some more yogurt or soft foods.
I held Eli's hand while Harry carried both girls. They looked tinier on him than they looked on me.
It was cute.
We followed the instructions on a map they set for us on the table, all the way to what looked like a store.
I opened the door and waited for Harry to come inside.
"Hi, how may I help you?" This girl, roughly about sixteen years old spoke.
"Uh, we were told to pick up watches here today?" Harry murmured.
"Oh yeah, you're new right? You have to go down to the health center to get shots." The girl said as she leaned down under the counter and shuffled for stuff.
"Oh, for what?" I asked, giving Harry a skeptical look.
"For your immune system. You're going to be on another world, the toxins and bacteria are different, I doubt you've heard of the Venom plague? I'm not sure they had it down in your planet."
"No, but that sounds scary." I murmured under my breath, "How many do we take?"
"Seven for human adults, ten Writhings adults. Human babies are two and Writhing babies are five. And the little boy, probably about four." The girl sighed looking down tiredly at her computer.
"Do we take them all in one day?" Harry asked.
She nodded, "Yeah, you might feel a little sick but that's normal. Adult Writhings might feel sicker than usual but that's just natural, it's their metabolism."
She handed harry the watches and he places his in his wrist, setting the girls in the counter. I grabbed mine and wrapped it around my wrist.
We were lead into a sterilized room, I knew it was best for Eli to go first, so they put him down on the bed and gave him the shots. He took it well, only crying through the first ones.
Harry took Sloane next while I took Athena, I knew she was gonna want to scream and cry so I held her tightly against me while she took the shots.
She did like I expected and was crying loudly. She buried her face in my neck and wailed in my ear until I pulled her away to look at me, "Hey, look at mama, you're okay." I kissed her forehead, "I know it hurts, but look it's all gone."
She still sobbed miserably until she caught a glimpse of Harry holding Sloane, Sloane looked tired and was falling asleep from all the emotions.
Athena threw herself toward Harry but I was quick to catch her and hand her over to him.
He held both of them in his arms, sighing since they were both fussing.
It was my turn to get the shots, I wasn't particularly excited about it, but I could handle a few shots.
I had four in and I was starting to feel a little nauseous from the stress I was feeling.
By the time they were done with all of us, I wanted to lie down and sleep, I was exhausted. Shots always affected me in a sickening way so I was always off for a few days afterwards.
We had finished everything we had to do for now, so we headed off home.
I noticed a few shops while we strolled down the busy hallways, people coming in and out of stores and malls. This was my type of place.
Harry and I put both the girls down on our bed when we came home, and lay down, Eli curled up in my chest, the television on with a cartoon.
I'm not lying when I say I was invested in those series.
My stomach was queasy and I felt warm. I changed out of my hoodie and Jeans and put on a top and shorts.
This was the emotional rest our family needed right now, no more running from anything, and I was happy about it.
When the kids went to bed, harry and I found a sort of balcony that was enclosed. you could see the stars, it was pretty.
We lay in a stretcher, my ear against his chest and I could hear his heartbeat, he had a cigarette between his lips, I guess I couldn't tell him what to do, I was a smoker myself, but I quit after I found out I was pregnant.
"So our life isn't going to be crazy insane this next year huh?" Harry chuckled under his breath, "I think I'll miss it."
I laughed a little, "Really?"
He nodded, "Very tiny bit."
"Let's enjoy the time we have now, Harry. it'll do us good."
"I know, I know."
