"I can't believe tomorrow is the first day of school." Persy exclaims. "Dude, I know right! To much has happened this year. Tooooo much!" I shout. It had been such a great year since James and I got back together. We got voted best couple! Jane tried to ruin my year several times by causing dumb fights, but I just ignored him because honestly I'm not the type of girl that breaks down into tears from someone calling me ugly or ganging up on me. Being a junior was fun, but tomorrow I will officially be a senior! And in 2 days I will finally be 18! James, and Destiny are already 18, but Persy and Anna are both younger than all of us so they are still 17 for a while. But back on the school topic, I've gotten a lot more popular, and since my modeling career blew up, my mom and I have a lot of walking around money, if you know what I mean. I've been working as a lifeguard for a summer job besides my modeling. I don't really need the money, but everyone was signing up to do it, even James. "Snap back onto earth, Diamond." Destiny says. "Huh? Oh. Sorry." I say kind of embarrassed. They all start giggling. "She must be daydreaming about James...AGAIN." Anna teases. I blush a little bit. We are walking over to the pool right now since our lunch break is over in literally a minute. The great thing is Anna, Persy, Destiny, James, and I have shifts at the same time. We get up to the gate and Persy, Anna, Destiny, and I swipe our ID cards. When I walk in there is only one person I am looking for and he is sitting on the tall lifeguard chair. He automatically notices me and jumps off to run over to me. He is wearing the regular lifeguard uniform. Red shorts, and red vans. We are matching shoes because he knows I love my red vans. I am wearing the girl lifeguard uniform which is a red two piece, but we have to wear red nike shorts over the bottom. He finally reaches me and hugs me. "Hey," is all he can say because he is to busy checking me out. "Hey, and my eyes are up here." I say while pushing his head up. "And what beautiful eyes they are." He replies. Destiny, Anna, and Persy quietly giggle and I can't help, but giggle also. We walk over to our lifeguard stands and take a seat. We get out our phone and group FaceTime since we can't really talk because we are kind of far apart. First James answers, then Anna, then Persy, then Destiny. We smile at the camera, then all put our phone is the cup holder. That way we can see and talk to each other. I'm about to say something to the camera when I hear someone screaming from the water. "Hel-... help-!" I dive into the water and search for who is screaming. It is a little girl who is in the middle of the pool. She is waving her hands all over the place and her face is red. I swim over to her and put her on my back. I paddle back over to the concrete where my chair is and lift her up onto the pavement. After I get out she clings to my leg saying, "Oh thank you, thank you, thank you soooo much!" I smile and carry her. "You are so very welcome." I say as I tap her nose. I walk her over to her parents who are already running over to me. "Oh thanks you so much, ma'am. I don't know why she thought she could swim in 6ft." Her mom says. I hand her, her daughter and smile wide. I turn on my heel and walk back to my seat. "Yass, babe. Saving lives and stuff." James says as I walk by his stand. I laugh and shake my head as I climb up onto the chair. I hear Desty, Anna, Persy, and James cheering for me through the phone. "Pff, I do this everyday. Not really a big deal." I say into the camera.

.....

"So are we gonna like quit our summer jobs tomorrow or...?" James says to start up a conversation. "Well, we kind of have to because we are going back to school and stuff. I'm gonna be so busy that I will have to plan out when I inhale and exhale." I hyperbolize. "Not a problem for me because I get to see you at school AND model with you. So I'm good." James says as he picks me up an puts me on his back. Destiny, Persy, and Anna gag. "Hey! I'm trying to keep my food down." Anna says. "Hey, you have a boyfriend too so when y'all hang out I have to go through the same thing." I say back. "Speaking of boyfriends, how is Noah, Persy?" "Good. Good. He is trying to convince his parents to move to our school." She answers. "Oh good. Hope it works." I say trying to cheer her up. "Where are we even going?" I ask James. "To your house so y'all can change, then to another place..." James answers slowly. The girls and I nod. I want to ask him what he means by another place, but it is probably a surprise so I just leave it alone. Once we get to the car I hop off James' back and get in the car. "I'm gonna miss working as a lifeguard, though. It was pretty fun...well when people didn't drown." Anna says from the back. "Yeah...but we can always work here again on breaks or when we really need a job...I guess." I say slowly. Even though the comment I said was supposed to lift her spirits, she just seemed even more gloomy about it. All I hear from her is a mumble, "Mhm." I bite on my lip and try to change the topic. "So are we going to the movies or...?" I ask. "Whatever you want to do, I got you." James answers as he turns the driving wheel. I find it kind of cool how James and I have such a special connection that he can hang around 4 girls without any guys around. "So let's talk about sports." I say trying to act like a dude. The girls laugh. "What?" James asks confused. "Isn't that what boys always talk about?" I say trying not to laugh. "I don't know. You hang out with us guys a lot so you tell me." He replies. "Yes. Yes y'all do." I answer. He chuckles a little bit. "Well I don't know why. I guess we just take sports seriously... I guess it is like you girls and dance, or cheer, or whatever." James defends. "Hey! I talk about sports other than dance, or cheer, or whatever! May I remind you that we all play basketball AND track? Ugh, speaking of basketball, I hate how guys automatically think they are better at basketball than girls are. Like if I played one on one with a nerd at school, I guaranteed you I would win. It just depends on your skill level." I ramble. Literally, I dream about a day where boys will just take girls in like one of the guys. "I never said you weren't good! You just aren't better than me. And of course, babe, if you played a nerd you would surely win!" James smirks. I scoff and roll my eyes. I can feel the girls doing the same, not that I can see them or anything, but we have a very close bond. The rest of the car ride to my house is us mainly just talking about sports and stuff. Wow, I truly feel like a guy. Once we get home Destiny, Persy, Anna, and I quickly change while James waits for us downstairs. I change into high-waisted shorts, and a long black shirt that says my name on it with a diamond emoji. My mom got it for me since I started modeling and stuff. I change into my white converse and put my hair down. "Putting your hair down from a tight, high ponytail is like the best feeling." I say relieved. All the girls mumble in agreement. I run to the bathroom so I can wash my face since I actually had to jump into the pool today. I finish in maybe 4 minutes and dash back to my room. The girls are still there doing makeup. I put on a little bit of mascara and lipgloss. I don't really need foundation because there really is nothing to cover, plus I hate wearing it: it makes my face feel icky. I check my phone for the time: 3:44 p.m. Since I have to wait for the other girls, I just check all of my social pages, delete a few pictures, take more pictures, delete some old contacts, and change my screensaver. By the time I finish all of that, the girls are getting ready to walk out the room. I jump up off my bed and follow them downstairs. James is sitting on the couch watching the basketball game. "Come on, we are ready." I say to James. When he doesn't hear me, I walk in front of the TV and that surely gets his attention. "You look..." James trails. "Yeah, yeah. Come on." I turn off the TV then grab his hand to pull him out. Doesn't take us to long to get to James' car. He got his car from the modeling money he has earned. It is a red, topless Mercedes. I love it. "Okay so for real, where are we going?" I ask James' for like the third time. "We are going to that one movie theatre where it is like a restaurant and movie theatre." James answers. "Yasss." I say. They all laugh and I end up laughing to.

.....

"$80.32." The man at the ticket booth says. He is maybe about 17 or 18 and has light, brown hair with blue eyes. James invited a few guy friends so he wouldn't have to go through a movie with just 4 girls. He invited his friend Joe, Chanon, and Dave. We are all paying for ourselves because know one here wants to pay 80 bucks for a movie. "Enjoy the movie." The man inside the booth says. "Especially you, hunny." He says directly to me. "Aye! Keep your eyes to yourself!" James yells. I laugh. Apparently we are watching Mocking Jay Part 2. The Hunger Games are amazing, but the Divergent series will always be my favorite series. We buy a few snacks and then head to the movie. Through the whole movie James kept on trying to talk to me, or kiss me or something. I mean I like him and all, but I've been waiting forever to see this movie. When it is finally over James looks kind of annoyed and I know exactly why. "Is it because I wouldn't talk to you or kiss you during the movie?" I ask James casually, "Because you know how long I have wanted to see that movie." "No." James says irritated. "Then why?" I ask again. He doesn't answer so I just leave him alone. I bet it is because I wouldn't give him any "sugar" during the movie. Half way home in the car James finally opens his mouth. "I'm guessing you have to be home early since we have school tomorrow, right?" "Yeah." I say. "Want me to pick you and Destiny up so you don't have to walk on your first day?" He ask. I look back at Destiny who just shrugs her shoulder. So I say, "Sure." He nods and that is the only conversation that I hear for the rest of the ride, but I don't mind because he probably has a lot on his mind. We all do.
