You glanced at the calendar on the wall of your room; today's date was circled with a pink highlighter, two heart stickers pasted right beside it. The corners of your lips curved up, your eyes growing into crescents and crinkling at the ends as an inevitable chuckle escaped you.
A sense of happiness washed all over your body.
You jogged to your room and flung open your closet door. Your eyes scanned the contents, only to be disappointed. You let out a sigh. You didn't exactly have the best fashion sense and it was not, in the tiny bit, girly.
You were majoring in physical education at Seoul University. You were awarded an athletic scholarship due to your outstanding achievements in softball.
Therefore, even though you would call it 'comfortable clothing', your friends had long pointed out how tomboyish your style was. Not that it was bad, but sometimes you wondered if it ever affected your chances at dating.
Another thing about yourself was that you didn't care much for romantic relationships; in fact you would call yourself a 'proud single soul'. You loved the freedom that came with being single and you had learned, watching your friends' countless love stories, from the sidelines, that love wasn't really that great. You would rather do without it.
However, today you wanted to look good. You had to look good.
You rummaged through your closet, desperately trying to find something decent to wear. You had gone through almost all of your clothes when a box caught your eye. It was a gift; a quite old one too.
You took the box out of the closest and patted off the dust on it. You let out a cough as some of it went into your nostrils.
When it was successfully dusted off, you saw the unique pattern on it; you knew exactly what it was. You had almost- almost forgotten about it.
You opened the box, only to be revealed with a beautiful white, knee length dress. Your eyes sparkled with a sense of nostalgia as you noticed the butterfly print on it. It was as gorgeous as you remembered it.
You put the dress on and stood in front of your mirror. You let out a sigh of relief as it still fitted you fine.
You grinned brightly as you got even more excited: you couldn't wait to meet him.
You let your, usually tied-up, hair down and gave your best effort at putting on some make-up. You were not the type to care too much about beauty related things, your style was simple and natural. It was convenient for your active lifestyle. It was also, maybe, because you didn't really have anyone to impress.
But today was different... It was a special day and you wanted to look the part.
You had found a pair of white sandals with a flower design on them. Your grandma had gifted them to you on a previous birthday. You had put them away as you thought you wouldn't have had the need to wear them. You really lucked out.
You grabbed everything you needed and headed out of your apartment.
It was a beautiful summer day. The rustling of the trees as the gentle breeze brushed through them, the chirping of the birds and the lively chatter of the people around. It was just as normal as any other day but to you, it was a day you treasured.
You walked some more until you reached the flower shop.
"Good morning. Can I get a bouquet of white roses?"
The owner of the shop nodded, a smile spread across her face.
"Do you know the meaning of these flowers?"
