4.Why Kolli Hills?

Netra's PoV

"Good morning Netra!" Anand greeted me getting down from his berth.

"Good morning Anand!" I greeted him
back.

"So you wake up so soon everyday?"

"Haha I were a sleepy head for many days! Now I don't really get good sleeps!"

"Oh no! But Faridkot is the most coldest place. You gotta sleep in until late!"

"yeah! Khilchi is where I come from. A little village alongside woods in Faridkot! It's very cold too!"

"Great! So you got new job in Kolli hills? That is so strange! People will go to cities like Chennai to get jobs!"

"Right! My Paati wanted me to go to this place after her. She has left me a letter that says I have a property there to live in. She gave me contacts there. She said that this place will be just like Khilchi. Apparently, my parents native is Kolli hills!" I said to him.

"Sorry about your Paati! Now I see why you were crying. I hope this new place will give you peace!" he said heartfelt.

"I hope so too! Thank you Anand!"

"Please don't mention it! So what's your new job?"

"The job is old to me! I am a kindergarten teacher! So going to be the same there too. Looks like there is a private school for locals there, could use a kindergarten teacher. So yeah!"

"Wow surprising! You are a teacher? I didn't expect that!"

"Haha What did you expect then?"

"No offence, I thought you should be a student in some college! That too in the beginning year!!"

"What no! I am working as a teacher for the past 2 years!"

"That is surprising! You look so young! And again I cannot imagine you as teacher! Computers suit you well! I think!"

"Haha you wont believe, I hate computers! That is isolating human beings! That is the most dangerous thing ever invented!"

"Whooo! So we have a science hater here!" he said.

"Hahahaha! I am a human hater as a matter of fact!" I told him in a low voice.

"Haha! I am sure you will love kolli hills. People there despise science. The villages still use ancient ways of survival! One of the most few places where nature is kept as it is and people adjust themselves to live along nature!" he said smiling.

I am now more than happy to go there. Actually, I am very eager to see this place.

"I am actually excited to see the place now!" I said.

"Are we friends enough for you to share about your Paati?" Anand asked me.

"Haha what do you want to know?" I asked him. I also feel like talking about her to someone! Why can't that some one be Anand?

"I am ready to listen to whatever you wanna share!"

"Um...I have no parents and my granny was the one who raised me. She was a strong woman! All I ever known is Paati, Khilchi and school! I love nature! Paati always tell me to let my heart lead me. She taught me many things about Nature. She is a wonderful cook. Her idli and sambar is very famous in Khilchi! She knew her end! She said that to me. You won't believe, she walked almost a mile to get to me a week before her demise! Strong woman!" I let out a sigh.

"Interesting! How did she know about her end?"

"Yeah right? She said she could feel her cells shrink and her organs shut down! I was like, what is she talking about? When she said that! But she was right! She never woke up!"

"I am sorry!" he gave me tissues! I didn't realize I was crying.

"Oh thank you!"

"My dad's friend, Shamid gave me a letter written by my granny! More of a will! The letter said, her wish for me is to spend my life in my parents native place. She also had written about a small house that belongs to my parents and was still maintained by the village head there! She mentioned phone numbers to contact!"

"Cool! How long have you gone?"

"I never remember this place Anand! Which means we were out from there atleast 20years now!"

"Wow! They still have that place for you? Are you sure? "

"Yeah! I didn't believe it too! I just put the letter at rest with the rest of the valuable things I had! But that house kept haunting me! Wherever I see, I saw Paati! It was so real! She kept on telling me to go to this place! So here I am on my way!" I told him.

"She must have really meant that! She pursued you to do that!"

"Haha I think so too! I called the number she gave me and someone named Adhiyan spoke to me. He said my place is still available for me!" I said.

"Very interesting. So you are going to settle there!? Good for you! Your granny would be happy! "

"Yes! For now! I asked him about a job for me! Adhiyan said he will provide me with the same work I have been doing! So yeah! I am kind of settling there!"

We spoke many things! He kept me good company! He is a software engineer! He works in Chennai! His hometown is Mullukurichi! He is a high rank man! So he often works from home and goes to Chennai if it's absolutely necessary! He is the only son and his dad passed away! His mother is a loving lady! Presently she is hunting for a bride for his son!

Gurmeet called me!

"Yeah Gurmeet!"

"Where are you? Reached?"

"Nope! Still 2more hours! I'm good Gurmeet! Dont worry about me!"

"How can I not? You are all alone on your own going to a place which you dont know existed until now!"

"I am a grown up Gurmeet! I can handle myself! Besides, I have a company! Anand! He is going to a place near where I have to go! So dont worry!"

"Be careful! Don't talk to strangers!"

"haha! I am teacher not a kg kid! Please be at ease Gurmeet!" she is a loving friend! We have known eachother from our childhood! She and I took up the teaching profession because I wanted her to be with me.

"Call me once reaching there! Come back if you feel something bad!" she said.

"Sure Gurmeet! I feel that I am going to like this place!"

"Good! I miss you already!"

"Awe don't! We will see eachother in our summer break!"

Gurmeet stayed at my house from the day Paati passed away! She was with me every minute helping me heal! Whenever I sleep, Paati gets in my dreams!

"Netra! This place is not safe for you anymore! Go to the place where you belong to! Your life is waiting for you there! Take the remains of your mom and dad with you! Go Netra! Go!" she said this same thing over and over again! She felt so real!

"Paati! Paati! " I tried to reach her everytime.

"Shh! Shh! Netra! It's ok! Wake up! It's just a dream!" Gurmeet was there everytime I screamed in my sleep!

"Gurmeet, I can't stay here! I think Paati wants me to go to my parents native!" I told her after a month of my Paati's demise.

"If that will give you peaceful sleep! Do it!" she hugged me.
