Throughout the winter season that passed over Woodbury, Gina and James were able to grow accustomed to being around the many other people that claimed this town as a home. They were even able to make friends with a few neighbors, an act that seemed entirely too domestic for the family after everything this new world threw at them in the beginning of this disaster.

Ben was even able to go back to school at the same place Gina found her new and designated job. She was a teacher before everything, so the Governor thought it was best that the children go back to doing something that was normal before the end of the world occurred. And she couldn't had agreed more. She wanted her son to have a little piece of normalcy from the world before, even if it was something as simple as doing homework.

Their son was even able to make some friends with the other kids in his class. It seemed easy for him to be able to adapt into a friend group, especially when he learned that one of the other little boys had a soccer ball. Soon those two became inseparable.

It was amazing to see and hear the laughs that would emit from their son after months of him only being terrified and miserable with the life they were forced to live. The parents' spirits were beginning to lift as well when they saw how well Ben was able to adjust to Woodbury. The Andrews family was fitting in well with just about everyone, including the Governor and his right hand man, Merle Dixon. Especially since they were the ones who found them out there and brought them back.

The Governor was a very inviting man towards the family of three into his town. He was able to give Gina and James good jobs to help pull their own weight. Since Gina taught English, she began to feel very comfortable in her new classroom that was filled with ten children ranging between the ages of seven to eleven years old. The teenagers, who's parents still wish for their children to get an education, come in after the younger ones.

While Gina was stuck in a classroom with a book in front of her and grading papers, James was in a field with guns and knives. He was in charge of teaching the citizens who wished to learn how to use weapons and survival skills. It was mostly teenagers who were bored and wanting to do something other than their homework that they were being forced to do.

On some days, Merle Dixon actually came to over watch James and his class. Often giving tips in inappropriate phrases and making the students uncomfortable with his vulgar language. The older male loved to see James get aggravated at him for distracting the kids from learning. That was the only reason why he even came to see the Andrews man.

Gina on the other hand actually kind of liked the older male when they would run into each other at the library that Woodbury offered. In order to keep up his badass facade, Merle would always come up with some sad line about how 'he only came to see if she was ready to be with a real man and he would always be ready for her'. Of course, she always laughed it off and would continue on her way, but not before giving out a harmless suggestion on a new book for him to educate himself with. He may seem to be a violent and inappropriate member of the town, but he was an appreciated man for the Andrews family. He was able to gain their respect when he came back from a random run with a soccer ball held underneath his arm for Ben.
