“Hey, hey! Did you hear? We’ve got a new transfer student! He’s coming from the city I hear.”

“Or really? Did you get to see what he was like? Is he cute? It’ll be nice to have someone new around, Inaba is such a small town, I bet he’ll have all sorts of cool stories.”

“True, but should you really be getting so excited over a new guy at school? I mean didn’t you just start dating Koru-chan...?”

The two girls continued to gossip as they walked into Yasogami High, passing by a rather unique looking third year student. She had dark brown hair, and deep brown eyes that seemed to look red at just the right angle. She wore a black scarf with a star on it to keep it pinned and in place, along with an interesting red shirt with black translucent sleeves. They cut away at the shoulder, exposing her dark skin to the spring air. There was a zipper off to the left side of her shirt that went all the way down to the hem of the shirt, which seemed like it might have… interesting uses, but it was purely for decoration. She also wore the short black skirt given to all the female students as part of the uniform, and some white leggings and black short high-heeled boots.

Youko Yamauchi stood out there in front of the school, waiting for her friend to show up so they could head to class together. It wasn’t just because of her mixed ethnicity however, which people usually noticed first, but she stood out also because she sort of had this air about her that made people feel confident that they could always rely on her when they needed her most. Dependable… but definitely not a pushover. They’d learned that quick two years ago when she was just a first-year student here… she didn’t take much of anything from anyone… for the most part.

“Hey Youko! What are you doing here so early?”

She turned to look toward the voice and saw her friend Kaori waving at her rather elegantly...with an interesting new look. Her hair was now a soft shade of green, but it looked good, especially with her bright blue eyes that most people envied in the school. She claimed to have gotten them from her great great grandmother, but everyone assumed she wore some contacts or something. She wore the classic Yasogami high uniform, down to the letter really, but Youko doubted it’d last. Sure enough, as she approached, she was taking her jacket off getting ready to go inside, wearing a cute black halter top. She was always the more fashionable one, though a bit eccentric at times… as evident with her green hair.

“Woah, what’s with the new hair? Did you fall into some seaweed or something?”

A girl next to Kaori giggled softly. She had a more soft spoken voice and personality.

Saki Konishi had long, wavy light brown hair and gray eyes that complimented her lightly tanned skin. She was pretty spot on with the uniform too, but she wore some black boots instead of the boring standard shoes.

“I told you she’d say something mean Kaori. Now you have to go back to black.”

Kaori huffed a bit as they reached Youko who high fived them both lightly.

“Hey now, I wasn’t being mean… it was an honest question! It looks good either way… though I’m sure King Moron is going to give you hell about it...even if we’re lucky enough not to be in his class this year.”

She snickered as the other two paled in horror remembering the torture they’d had to endure last year with having him as their home room teacher.

“Don’t remind me of him!” Kaori said with a huff. “Telling me what I can and can’t wear…. just because he’s not up to date with the latest trends doesn’t mean I have to be behind.”

“Of course.” Saki said softly. “I’m sure it had nothing to do with the fact that a sequined prom dress doesnt match the dress code…. at all.”
