I woke up early the next morning at 5 am and got dressed, then headed to Luc's room to wake him up. I knocked loudly and he opened the door.
"Come on! Practice time!" I said to him.
He groggily closed the door again and got ready. I headed downstairs to prepare breakfast. I made us a lot of scrambled eggs (good for protein) and two pieces of toast each.
I had just put the plates on the table when Luc came downstairs.
"You have 1 day to practice, so you've got to get an early start," I explained.
"I am not an expert on the English language, but do you not mean 'we'?"
"No, I mean you. I dropped out," I mumble.
"Oh, but Tara you did not need to!" he exclaims.
"No, I did, I can always try out next year, but you only have one semester. Besides, now I can focus on being your trainer. Now hurry up and eat your breakfast, we have work to do."
We headed to the high school field and I began.
I gave Luc a lot of information to handle in the 6 hours we practiced, but he took it all in and put it to great use. I explained to him the frisbee basics, the science behind it, the history of it, and different ways things could play out. Basically everything and anything someone could possibly need or want to know about ultimate frisbee. At last, it was time for what he would call the 'pièce de résistance'. I handed him my sketch of the perfect strategy.
"Oh, Tara! This is brilliant! You could defeat anyone with this!" he said enthusiastically.
"Yep you could," I said with a tinge of sadness in my voice, "you did great today buddy, you totally deserve it. I have no doubt that you're getting that spot on the team. Now let's go home,"
