Finally...some quiet

After a while, I stopped running and hopped on my skateboard. I knew the perfect place where I could practice in peace.

It was a huge clearing, hidden by such a thick wall of vines and shrubbery so that at first glance, it just looked like a wall with some overgrown vines all over it. I remembered exactly where it was because it was one of the few moments I had with my dad.

He had come to visit when I was seven, and Jake had come too. We had been biking around when we decided to stop for a snack. We got off the bikes and went to go sit down. Jake had tried to lean against what he thought was a wall and fallen into the clearing. We decided to investigate, and when we walked in, we were in awe of how beautiful it was there, and time had seemed to stop. We stayed there all day telling stories and playing games.

I reached the clearing thinking about this memory, which genuinely calmed me. I was tired from skating so far and was kind of hungry. So I grabbed a very ripe banana from my backpack that I had packed for a snack while I was forced to practice with Luc. I ate it quickly. There were no trashcans in the vicinity, so I just left it where I was sitting, and made a mental note to pick it up to take home so I could throw it away properly. I left my stuff outside and got my frisbee that I had brought for practice.

For hours I worked on practicing my perfect strategy, getting the perfect throw, getting the perfect catch, and passing the perfect frisbee. It honestly didn't feel like hours, but by the time I realized I should probably go, it was nighttime. It was so dark, and I had strayed pretty far from the entrance. I couldn't really see my way in the dark, so I didn't know which way the entrance was. I suddenly realized that I could just call someone to pick me up or navigate with my phone, but it dawned on me that I had left my phone outside. I sat down, defeated. Once again, I had screwed up. Aunt Jess was probably freaking out, but she wouldn't know where I was, nobody knew about this place, it was our secret, we had never told anybody about this place and I wasn't sure if anyone knew. My stomach growled loudly. Ugh, I probably shouldn't have eaten that banana, now I had no food. It was starting to get colder now. Luckily I was wearing my favorite gray sweatshirt, so I huddled up in that. The only thing I could really do now was wait, until morning so I could see and find my way out of this place.
