"We are never doing another escort mission again," Macbeth said, walking into the guild. "That was ridiculous."
"It was your idea," Sawyer scoffed. "And don't act like you didn't enjoy the trip."
"She spent the entire trip to and from the party flirting with him," Erik scowled. "And you don't even want to know what was going on in her head."
"Hey, we got paid, didn't we?" Alex crossed her arms and sat down at a table. "And all we had to do was take one spoiled brat through the woods to a party."
"I'm all for never doing another escort mission," Sorano sighed. She pulled out a new planetary key and smiled. "At least I have a new key to add to my collection. I can't wait to make a contract with the messenger spirit Mercury."
"Welcome back," Mira said, smiling. She handed Alex a mango milkshake. "Did you enjoy your job?"
Alex sighed. "It was alright." Eager to not talk about their recent job, she looked around. "Where's Natsu and his team at?" She asked. "Did they go on another job?"
"Not exactly," Mira laughed. "Wendy went on a solo job, and they decided to follow her."
"Why would they do that?" Sorano asked, curious. "Don't they trust their teammate to do a good job on her own?"
Alex shrugged. "It's her first big job on her own, so of course, they wanted to make sure she was alright." She stood up and stretched her arms. "Knowing them, they'll just make her job more difficult."
"Are we going after them?" Richard asked, also standing up. "Surely, Miss Wendy could use our assistance in dealing with her teammates."
Erik snorted. "Wendy might be small, but she is a Dragon Slayer." He stood up. "She'll be fine. Since nothing exciting is happening here, though, I'm going to bed."
Alex smiled. "Yeah, Wendy will be fine. We should all get some rest, though. The big Fairy Tail race is coming up, and I want to be well-rested for that."
"What Fairy Tail Race?" Sorano asked, standing up. "You never said anything about a race." Alex laughed and walked outside of the guildhall with Erik. "Alex! What race are you talking about?"
The 24 hour Fairy Tail race
"So, what is this race anyway?" Macbeth asked as they joined the rest of the guild in the park. "You never did tell us."
Alex started stretching. She wore purple shorts, a black tank top, and some blue tennis shoes. "It's a twenty-four-hour race." She started stretching her legs. "All Fairy Tail wizards not on a job must join."
"So, what do we have to do?" Sorano asked.
"The requirements change every year," Alex said. "But the most important thing is you don't get the last place. The master usually has some horrible punishment waiting for the losers."
"Cool!" Jason, the reporter shouted. Alex and the others went to stand by the rest of their guildmates. "It's that time of year again. Fairy Tail's All Wizards Mandatory twenty-four-hour Road Race! And I, Jason, from the Weekly Sorcerer, will be doing the play-by-play!"
"Do we have to listen to this guy the whole time?" Macbeth complained. "He's got to be the most annoying guy I've ever met."
The reporter Jason wasn't very well-loved by any of the former Oracion Seis. He managed to get an interview with them about how they were handling being reformed by the Fairy Tail guild, and it didn't end very well for any of them.
"Just focus on running, and you'll be alright," Alex said. They walked over to the starting line. "It's better if we stand on the edges," she warned. "And do what you can to stay out of Jet's way at the beginning."
