I woke up the next morning to the sun pea-ring through the sunroof that spread across the ceiling. For what we called a bunker, it was pretty luxurious. But that was because we had so much time to make it look and feel how we wanted.
I look across the room, searching for any sign of Tommy or Wilbur. There was none. They must have already started down in the mines. I sighed at the lack of presence of the boys before getting up and making myself some food. Eggs and bacon with apple juice. Another thing I really enjoyed about not living in the city was that all the food was fresh and homemade, none of that produced shit.
I didn't have any plans for today, which was a problem because there wasn't much in the main bunker that could occupy me. The boys didn't really appreciate it when I disturbed them in the mines, mostly because one wrong move and the entire mine could collapse. So I rarely went down there unless they wanted to show me something.
I wrote a quick note telling the boys that I would be out exploring for new land. I carefully folded the paper so that it would stand up and gently placed it on a ledge next to the exit of our bunker.
I tried to get away from the hideout as quickly as I could to avoid having anyone see me come from there.I decided against taking Erebus, mostly because If anything were to happen to me, I wouldn't want him stuck in the crossfire. Almost 5 minutes into my walk, I was stopped by two armed men. George and Nick.
"Hello Luna." Nick, also known by his war name Sapnap, greeted. I looked at the two boys with an eyebrow raised. George pursed his lips, looking away from me.
Here's some background information. George is my brother, we were separated from our parents at a very young age. So young that if we met them, we probably wouldn't know who they were. It was George and I against the world. When I was expelled from L'manburg, George was forced to remove me from his life, otherwise they would execute him. Nick was also a very important person in my life. Let's just say Nick and I have some history, but that all went away when he told me he was going to pledge his allegiance to Jschlatt and the soon to be city of Manburg only days before the election. I couldn't trust him after that.
"What do you two want?" I asked firmly, I tried extremely hard to pretend that seeing my brother wasn't difficult.
"Jshlatt sent us to look for you." Nick states. I softly laugh to myself.
"Why?" I ask bluntly. I knew it couldn't be for any good reason.
"He refused to tell us that information, he wants to meet with you, Tommy and Wilbur." I shuffle in place, It's hard for me to trust anyone who comes from Manburg. But at that very moment I decided to let my walls down and agree.
"When?" I asked, maintaining that same bluntness.
"As soon as possible, preferably in the next half hour." I nodded in agreement. Nick looked at George before turning around to head back to the city. George stayed a second longer. He looked into my eyes and presented a sweet smile before following Nick. It wasn't his fault we had to be on different sides. I miss him but I have Tommy and Wilbur as my family now. With or without George, I would be fine.
I started heading back to the bunker as soon as Nick and George were out of my view. Even though I still trusted George, I couldn't have our hideout location found out by anyone.
When I finally made it to the bunker and checked to make sure no one was around, I headed inside and down to the mines where Wilbur and Tommy were. As soon as I entered the mines, Tommy noticed me.
"Luna! What are you doing down here?" He screamed, not in an aggravated way, but just because he's a loud character. Both Tommy and Wilbur stopped what they were doing and came over to talk to me.
"I bumped into Nick and George while I went out just now." Wilbur's face instantly flushed red in worry.
"What did they want?" he asked, concerned.
"Jshlatt wants to meet us in Manburg as soon as possible." Wilbur sighed.
"Well if we don't go that's a bigger L for us so let's get ready." Tommy says walking past us, up the staircase to the main room. Wilbur waited in front of me, still looking concerned.
"Luna you need to be careful, this isn't L'manburg, we can't just go frolicking around like we use to." I rolled my eyes and sighed before crossing my arms.
"Will, I'm not a kid, I can protect myself. I killed the bloody Ender Dragon after all." He came closer and placed his hand on my shoulder.
"That doesn't mean you're insusceptible to getting hurt."
"Thanks for the concern, but I'm fine. I never leave the house without a weapon anyway." I give him a reassuring smile. I understand why he is worried, but everything was fine. We both walked up to the main room together.
It was time to get ready to go to Manburg... God I hate that name.
