James felt his heart stop the moment that Scarlet's body hit the floor.

As soon as the thud echoed around the stadium, James sped to her side, along with Sirius. He jumped off his broom and kneeled by her, trying to shake her awake as the panic set in. The only thing that comforted him was the rise and fall of her chest. Sirius was crouched by her as well, along with Remus and Peter, who had run down from the stands.

A few metres away from them, James could hear Madam Hooch screaming at Piers Bulstrode, giving him a month's worth of detentions. As James grabbed her hand, his fingers brushed against the small, golden ball within her grasp.

"Merlin..." He muttered softly.

"What?" Remus asked with a panicky voice.

James gently took the Snitch out of her hand and held it up for the three boys to see.

"She actually managed to catch the Snitch."

It was a bittersweet victory for Gryffindor.

The entire team, Remus, Peter, Lily, and Marlene were all huddled around the dark-haired girl's bed, watching her as she remained unconscious. Alice, Mary, and Dorcas had all wanted to see her too; however, Madam Pomphrey had ushered them out due to the small crowd forming around Scarlet's bed.

James was sat in the chair beside her bed, gently holding onto her hand. Eventually, the crown died down, most people going off for lunch or to study. Lily and Marlene had left, but only after telling the boys to find them as soon as Scarlet woke up. Soon, it was only the Marauders sat around her bedside, waiting for her to regain consciousness. After a few more hours, Peter had managed to persuade Sirius to leave with him in order to go get some food to bring up, leaving only Remus and a sleepy James with the girl.

When Scarlet gained consciousness, the first thing she noticed was that her body was not where she left it.

Instead of the grainy sand of the Quidditch pitch, with the sound of the roaring crowd invading her ear drums, she found herself lying on soft surface, with something covering most of her body, with the exception of her head and arms, and there was little to no noise.

Her eyes fluttered open and she immediately recognised her surroundings as the Hospital Wing. Feeling a presence next to her, she turned her head to the left and was met with the sight of her boyfriend, collapsed in a chair, resting his head against her bed as he slept. She smiled softly as she observed the sleeping boy, reaching out to gently play with his messy hair.

"I wouldn't wake him up, if I were you."

Scarlet nearly jumped out of her skin at the sound of a voice and frantically turned to her left, only to relax when she saw Remus smiling at her, looking as though he were trying to hold in a laugh.

"He's only just fallen asleep. He was doing his nut, worrying about you. Well, we all were." The werewolf continued.

"What happened again?" Scarlet asked with furrowed brows, trying to ignore how the action seemed to intensify the pounding in her head.

"Long story short, you fell off your broom. Probably over sixty feet. Well, I say you fell - I mean that you were pulled off your broom by that twat Bulstrode." Remus explain, albeit a little angrily.

Scarlet nodded slightly, "That explains the pounding in my head."

"I'll tell you what though - you still managed to catch the Snitch!"

"Did I? Lovely, good to know." Scarlet said with a small grin.

At that moment, Sirius and Peter returned, carrying some trays of food, provided by the house elves.

"You're awake!" Peter exclaimed, almost dropping his tray.

"Welcome back, sleeping beauty!" Sirius teased with a grin, although the relief was clear in his eyes.

"Oh, bugger off Padfoot! Don't act like you weren't pissing yourself ten minutes ago!" Remus shot back.

Sirius let out his dog-like bark of a laugh and the noise woke up James, who raised his head and blinked sleepily for a few seconds, before perking up considerably when he made eye contact with his girlfriend.

"You're awake! Thank Godric!" He almost yelled, immediately wrapping his arms around the girl and pressing a kiss to her forehead and cheeks.

Scarlet laughed at the affection and smiled at him when he sat down again.

"Anyway," Sirius broke up the moment and Remus and Peter rolled their eyes at the boy, "Wormtail and I brought sandwiches and chocolate, so you woke up at the right time, Bambi."

Sirius and Peter placed their trays on Scarlet's bed and the Marauders all started eating; joking with each other as they stuffed their faces.

Eventually, Madam Pomphrey allowed Scarlet to leave, but not before giving the girl a Pepperup Potion, which caused steam to pour out of the her ears for a while. Marlene and Lily had been waiting for Scarlet outside of the Hospital Wing, and together the three girls made their way back to the Gryffindor dorms in order to freshen up before dinner.

As soon as Scarlet sat down on her bed, Cleo jumped up on the mattress and curled up next to the girl, snuggling up to her side and purring happily. The girls spend a couple of hours just chatting, Scarlet was lazily scratching her cat behind her ears, while Lily laid on her bed, flicking through a book and contributing something to the discussion every now and then.

And Scarlet wouldn't have it any other way.
