HAPPILY EVER AFTER

CH.19 IS IT A BOY OR GIRL

So gonna fast forward a little bit....3 months later.

Joey's morning sickness was finally getting better and today they would find out if they are having a boy or girl. Pacey really preferred a boy so that he could name him Pacey Jr. and of course Joey preferred to have a girl. They would be happy with either.

Ever since Bodie Jr. had been born Bessie let Pacey take Joey to her doctor appointments by himself.

He helped Joey into the truck. She was starting to show more and more each day it seemed. "Pace do you still find me attractive?" Joey asked when he got behind the steering wheel. "Jo of course I'm still attracted to you. "You are going to be the mother of my child, one day you're going to be my wife and you have never looked more beautiful to me than you do now.

"Pace you've never said anything about me being your wife before." Joey said smiling up at him. "Oh did I say that" Pacey said jokingly. Joey punched him on the arm and they both started laughing. He pulled her to him and said "of course I'm going to make you my wife one day. I have a job now and I want you, the baby and me to be on our own soon. You're too good for people to say we are just shacking up but if we don't get going we're going to miss our ultrasound appointment. I don't want to miss that for anything."

What Joey didn't know was that Dawson and the rest of the friends were planning a baby shower for them as soon as they knew the baby's gender.

Pacey and Dawson had both gotten a job at the new video rental store in town. Pacey worked after school and on weekends. Dawson only worked the weekends. He didn't need the hours as bad as Pacey did. The boys enjoyed working together and that past weekend, Dawson had told Pacey about the surprise baby shower.

Joey sat back in her seat after Pacey had let her go and put her seatbelt on. "Let's go boyfriend" Joey said. "One day soon I promise you Jo that you'll be calling me you fiance and then your husband" Pacey said as he put the truck in drive.

When they got to the doctor's office Pacey helped Joey out of the truck and held her hand as they walked inside the office. Joey checked in and took her cup to the restroom while Pacey went to sit down.

Joey had gotten use to this routine and didn't find it as annoying as she did at the beginning. Pacey was looking at a magazine when Joey came out of the bathroom. She could have sworn it was a bridal magazine but when he saw Joey, he quickly put the magazine down and picked up one about boats.

At her last appointment the doctor had told her that if her urine and vitals looked good, that she would only be having her ultrasound today.

The nurse called her name and they both followed the nurse back. After the nurse took Joey's vitals she took her chart to show the doctor.

When the nurse came back she said "the doctor said everything looks ok. She does want you to make an appointment for two weeks because we need to do your glucose test. Now if you will follow me to get your ultrasound."

The nurse told them to have a seat, that the lady that does the ultasounds would be with them shortly. They sat down and Pacey took Joey's hand and said "are you nervous or excited?" "A little bit of both" Joey said. She was about to ask him the same thing but her name was called.

"So Ms.Potter your chart saids you're about twenty weeks. Has anyone told you the gender of your baby yet?" "No mam, we were hoping to find out today" Joey said. "I don't see why you won't unless the baby is turned so that we can't see. So get on up here and let's see what we got."

Joey got up on the table and layed back. The tech raised Joey's shirt to her breasts. She then tucked a towel into Joey's waistband. After that she picked up a squeeze bottle and said "this my be a little cold." She squeezed what now Joey could see was gel all over Joey's stomach.

Pacey stood by Joey and held her hand. The tech started moving the wand all around Joey's belly. Pacey and Joey really couldn't make out anything on the screen but the tech said "Ms.Potter are you sure you want to know the gender." "Yes" Pacey and Joey both said.

"I see a boy" the tech said. Pacey showered Joey's face with kisses with tears in his eyes. "Oh Jo a son we're having a son, a Pacey Jr" Pacey said. Joey was smiling and she too had tears in her eyes.

"Everything looks good and you should have your son in your arms in about four months. Would you like some pictures printed out?" The tech asked. "Yes please and thank you so much" Joey said.

When they were in the truck Pacey said "who do we tell first?" "Let's go home and tell Bessie and Bodie first." "Maybe instead of going from house to house, how about we do like a dinner or something." "That sounds like a good idea Pace. Today is Wednesday, how about we plan it for Saturday. Do you think you can take that day off?" "Pretty sure I'll be able to Jo. "So we aren't telling anyone until Saturday, not even Bessie and Bodie. Ok we'll get some blue balloons or something in blue that signifies it's a boy" Joey said. "Sounds good Jo. Let's do that. I love you Jo" Pacey said while grabbing Jo to hug her
