Lindsey Horan makes her way inside the elevator of her apartment building and pushes the button for her floor. As the doors begin to close, she hears a voice yell out, "Hold the elevator, please!"
She thinks about it for a second before then hitting the button to force open the doors and watches as someone, a young woman, she believes based on her clothing, makes their way in beside her with their arms full of moving boxes.
"Thanks for that, do you think that you could push the button for the 9th floor, for me please?"
"No problem." Lindsey seeing that the woman has her hands full hits the button for the 9th floor just beside the button already illuminated for the 10th floor which is where she lives and shares an apartment with her baby, also known as Ferguson her Bulldog.
A few days later, Lindsey and Ferguson stand and wait at the elevator after returning from an afternoon walk as well as some playtime in the park. Lindsey smiles at her boy as he sits so patiently waiting for the doors to open.
"You ready for a nap?" Ferguson looks up at her and lets out a little yip in response, causing her to laugh.
A young woman presses the button and then moves to stand beside them, taking in Ferguson in his finest form, "He's adorable, what it be alright if I pet him?"
Lindsey smiles and nods as the woman bends down to give the bulldog some loving.
"What's his name?"
"Ferguson or Fergie for short."
"Cute name. I'm Sophia, by the way."
"Lindsey, nice to meet you. So, are you new here?"
Sophia smiles and nods, "Yeah, I just moved here from Colorado and trying to get the lay of the land before I start my new job."
The elevator door open and the two woman press the buttons for their respective floors. As it begins to climb, Ferguson keeps looking at Sophia and she can't help but smile at the little potato of a dog.
As it stops and the doors open for the 9th floor, Sophia, gives Ferguson one last scratch and says goodbye to Lindsey before walking towards her apartment.
With the ding for the 10th floor, Lindsey starts to walk and Ferguson plants himself on the elevator floor, not moving. Lindsey shakes her head before picking him up and then carrying him back to their apartment.
"Fergie, you're being ridiculous." Ferguson looks at her and then licks her nose causing her to laugh.
Later on, Lindsey gives one of her best friends Mal a call, needing to catch up with her friend but also feeling a bit lonely and missing home.
"Ring, Ring"
"Hey Linds, wassup?"
"Not much, just curled up on the couch with Fergie watching some Netflix, you?"
She hears Mal laugh and says, "Stop" to whoever is with her."
"Sorry Linds, I'm with Dans at the moment and he thinks it's funny to try and tickle me while I talking to you."
"Say Hello for me, I guess if you're with him I shouldn't keep you on the phone."
"Linds, it's fine. Someone is on his way out to pick us up some food, right Baby?"
She hears a kissing sound followed by a, "Love you."
"Okay, he's gone, so what's new with you? Have you heard from Emily?"
