The party was in full swing by the time I reached to top of the stairs. The base from the music was so loud, I could feel the vibrations through my shoes. I searched the crowd, finding Tyler near the stairwell looking around. Just as he spotted me, beaming a proud smile, he flew up the stairs, and the massive crowd seemed to follow him with their eyes.
He pulled my arm in his once he reached the top of the stairs and signaled to someone near the speakers. The music dulled down a little. "Ladies and gents, let me introduce to you the woman of the hour: my little cousin, Kira Fitzgerald," he said, gesturing to me with a bright smile. The crowd responded with cheers and a few catcalls - at least one of which came from Caroline. "Alright, alright, I know, just keep your hands to yourself; this is like my baby sister," he said with a chuckle as he lead me down the stairs and the music went back to full volume.
At the end of the stairs, a girl was holding a tray of beers and Tyler handed me one. I lifted a brow and gave a nervous smile. "Really?" I asked, wondering if this was some kind of test.
"Come on, Kira. Live a little. I'll make sure nothing happens to you, so let loose," he said with a wink, placing the beer in my hands.
I shrugged and took a swig, and another excited cheer came from the crowd. I giggled and took another sip just, following Tyler to a circle of people. I recognized three of them: Caroline, and the two Salvatore brothers who had invaded my room mere minutes earlier.
"Guys, this is Kira. She's my family, so --"
"So she's our family," Caroline finished, pulling me into another insanely firm hug. I giggled and hugged her back.
Tyler took me around the circle introducing me to his friends one by one. "This is Bonnie Bennett, small but feisty," Ty smirked, bringing me to a short, brown skinned brunette with green eyes. She rolled her eyes, but smiled at me.
"Nice to meet you, Bonnie," I said, reaching out a hand. Instead of shaking it, she pulled me into a warm hug.
"Welcome to the family, Kira. I finally have someone I can see eye to eye with," she said with a chuckle. I looked down at her shoes. We were wearing similar heels, the same height.
"Right!" I laughed and nodded. "It sucks being the only short one in the group."
"This is Elena Gilbert and her little brother Jeremy," Ty said, gesturing to a couple of much taller, tanned brunette siblings.
"It's so great to meet you, Kira. Tyler hasn't shut up about you all day," she said with a warm smile before giving me a brief hug.
Her brother went to hug me next, but Tyler pressed his hand to Jeremy's chest, pushing him back lightly. "Don't even think about it, Gilbert," he muttered with a forced smile.
I just chuckled and rolled my eyes, giving Jeremy a small smile which he returned.
Tyler pulled me to the Salvatore brothers next.
"This is--"
"Damon and Stefan Salvatore, yeah, I know," I interrupted, nodding at Damon who was currently eying me with a cocky smirk.
Tyler turned back to me with a look of confusion.
"They were having a...sibling fight? Must've thought my room was empty," I shrugged, turning away from Damon to Tyler.
