Everything. Everything he had done to run from all his previous life went tumbling down. He felt like any second now he will have a panic attack, faint and leave Kiara to fend for herself.

He tried his best to keep to his feet but but was a lot of work, he knew his feet will not be able to hold him any more.

The warlock was a new face. He had never seen him before but he was a part of his former Shadowhunter life.

He was a plum looking guy with a bald head. His warlock mark was a huge gem like yellow stone on his forehead. He was sure Kiara was not able to see that mark because she didn't have the sight.

He was smiling with a huge grin not a happy one but an evil one. He was the one to speak first. "Welcome Shadowhunter and... Kiara." He acknowledged her "nice to see you after you robbed me."

Kiara opened her mouth to say something but he waved his hand and she couldn't say anything anymore. "Now now don't ruin the movement by opening that mouth of yours." The warlock said.

Jonathan still couldn't believe what he was seeing. He had seen several downworlders in his hiding time but none knew him. He was an ordinary mundane for them.

Everything was opposite now. He had no plan, Kiara couldn't fight demons or downworlders. This would not end well.

"You must be Kiara's former boss. Nice to meet you too." He put his poker face and gained his confidence. He would not show any sign of weakness. The best way to defeat an enemy is to show no weak side. He would get both of them out alive.

"Shadowhunters" he almost spat the words like they were poison. His giddy mood was replaced by an angry mood. "Haven't seen them in a while, well..." He gave a short laugh which sounded like a cough "they were the reason I went into hiding. Now that I am back an ordinary vermin mundane robbed me. Ha." He laughed and gave Kiara a sting eye.

Kiara was expression less she did not show any emotion. It was like she was build in stone.

"What are you doing with her?" The warlock looked amused. "Is she your pet? Huh?"

Jonathan almost threw his dagger at him but he didn't let go of the plan. He was going to stick to the strategy and get her name cleared off.

"Mr. Lenny I suppose it was a foolish mistake. And she is sorry for that. I am here to pay her debt off." He opened the pouch he had brought and tossed along the table.

The warlock looked at the pouch for a second then raised his head and said "well you see it is not about money anymore, now my reputation is on the line as a mere mortal robbed me and I want to kill the girl."

Jonathan flinched at the idea of this warlock even touching her. "Sorry sir. I can't let that happen."

"Why do you care about this- this mundane." Jonathan could tell he wanted to use a word stronger than mundane.

It was Kiara's turn to speak.

"I don't know half the things you are talking about-" It was Kiara spoke with absolute confidence. "-but I can tell you I am not going to come back here and you cannot kill me,"

"And why is that?" the warlock asked.

"because I will kill you first." she declared and was about to run towards the warlock but Jonathan caught her by her waist and stopped. He had feared she would do something like that.

"Kiara I am sorry this was a trap, The things are not what you see, I can save you but you have to trust me and cooperate." He whispered to her and her eyes were wide and popping out in confusion. "We have to run."

"But we can fight." She told him. He shook his head. "We can't just trust new and we will be out in time." He gave her a resurring smile.

"I can tell this girl here has some fire, it is such a waste of a pretty face." the warlock interfered "but I can assure you I cannot be harmed so easily."

"seize the Shadowhunter and bring me the girl." the demons who were waiting for their boss to started coming forward.

"Listen to me, your weapons are not going to hurt them but mine will so-" he was cut if when she asked

"Why?"

"I'll explain everything but for now just listen to me." He pleaded and she nodded her head.

"On right of the table there is a window. Break it and jump down. I will be right behind you."

She just nodded het head and ran first the window.

He had to distract the warlock so his attention is away from Kiara.

"The clave has no idea what you are doing right?" He decided to make small talk with the warlock.

"The clave is at it's weakest after the Morgensterns started the wars it was easy for me to come out of hiding." He took the bait and started explaining his life.

You see the longer you live the more stories you have to share and warlocks are immortals so it was easy to engage them in talks.

"You know I killed mundane for business which is against the law, I don't see the point the are just like pests we are above them and their worthless lives." He continued.

The demons did not move further they were listening to their boss as well. Clearly they didn't see him and Kiara as a threat so they had the upper hand.

"Even Shadowhunters are puny and seem to think they are so superior. Ha."

Kiara broke the window and drew attention towards herself.

"What are you doing fools standing there she is trying to get away." The warlock steamed and the demons lunged towards Kiara.

Now was his que he jumped high, used one chair as a stepping stool and skewered the first demon with his blade. It vanished with a pop sound but before that something stuck him on the chest, he ignored it .

Kiara watched with an open mouth but came back to reality and screamed "Jonathan jump now." But Jonathan had to get rid of the other demons. "You go I'll be there" he lied but he had to save her.

He moved forward towards danger but before he could do anything else, a hand grabbed his collar and pulled him back.

"No you are coming with me." Kiara said to him as she turned him so they were face to face. She saw right through him as he had lied. "don't think about going back or I swear I will kill you myself." He was impressed by the fire in her words and eyes again because he listened to her and gave her a small 'okay'.

They both stepped on the ledge, it was a four story drop. He did not remember climbing any stairs but if you think about it their enemy was a Warlock, a powerful one which probably means the whole building was charmed.

"You ready?" He asked Kiara.

"No." She side with a bright smile.

"Don't worry I have done this before, just trust me." He said and grabbed her waist "wait, what do you mean you have done this before?" She asked with a confused look.

"hold on." Was all he said before they both jumped off the ledge, arms around each other.
