Flamebringer's mysterious past

Besides the list of names that he has supposedly killed, much of Flamebringer's past largely remains unknown, besides the fact that he and W used to be comrades and he had some sort of involvement with the Doctor before their amnesia. It's implied the Doctor once commanded Flamebringer's old squad and was also responsible for the death of nearly all its members. As of Darknights Memoir, it can be inferred that like W, he was part of or at the very least affiliated with Babel.
