Jordyn Nexus and Trent Alexander-Arnold had been practically joined at the hip from the minute they were born. They didn't share a birthday, or have the creepy ability to read each other's minds as some best friends did, but they went to school together, joined the Liverpool academy together, and broke through into the first team in the same year. They shared a love of football, an obsession with video games, and an intense passion for good food, so despite the fact that they were two very different personalities, they formed the kind of bond that comes once in a lifetime.

It was true that they were teased a lot - any best friend duo of opposite genders was bound to be told at least once or twice that they ought to be dating, and Trent and Jordyn were no exception to the rule. Once they became famous, even the media picked up on it, and dating rumours began to appear on every gossip paper in England. However, they were always quick to shut the notion down. To begin with, they simply found it funny that people could assume they would end up dating. Eventually though, Trent would point out that he was far too immature to ever be what Jordyn would want from a romantic relationship, and Jordyn would add that she couldn't ever see it working out that way. And they were both right. Still, neither of them ever dated anyone else, being more than content in each other's company, and as long as they were still single, the rumours would continue to fly.

Jordyn was born to a Brazilian father and an English mother, inheriting her father's dark eyes and hair, and her father moved to Liverpool to marry her mother only a few years before she was born. Due to complications surrounding her birth, she was an only child, and having no siblings at all was part of the reason she became so close with Trent. It did mean also that her parents, who weren't particularly well off, could afford to spend more on her than they could have with multiple children, and now that Jordyn was earning more than both her parents put together, she could happily spend money on them as they had on her.

Between the two of them, Trent and Jordyn lived a relatively care free life. The most pressing thing for them was carrying the weight of expectation, coming from two families who had been Liverpool supporters for as long as they could remember. Liverpool FC was the reason that Jordyn's parents had met in the first place, and to have their daughter performing so well on the first team was a dream come true for them. It was a dream come true for Jordyn as well, but whenever something went wrong, or she made a mistake, and lost the ball, an image of her parents with disappointed looks would fill her head, and spur her on to fight harder for them. They would never tell her when she'd had a bad game, and this was part of how she and Trent were different. Trent truly appreciated that his family were his harshest critics, knowing that they did it out of a genuine love for him, and desire to see him and the club succeed. Jordyn was her own harshest critic, and because of this, her parents gave her all the affection and support in the world, even when she was playing terribly. Still, the dark haired girl knew what they expected of her - it was the same thing that they had always expected of anyone who wore the Liverpool kit, and there were days when the badge felt heavy where it rested upon her heart.
